Letter from the Editor Welcome to our first edition of The Best Version of You! If you’ve been following Dr. Lycka on Instagram (@drbarrylyckamd) and Facebook (@yourcosmeticdoctor), you probably noticed that we’ve been working to refresh our image to be better in tune with our wide variety of patients.

Perhaps the most important facet of this brand refresh is the idea that you don’t need to radically change yourself to look better, that aging is a blessing not bestowed upon everyone, and doesn’t have to be a negative experience.

The ethos behind the new name of our magazine is that smaller, consistent efforts (including a healthy lifestyle) towards the maintenance of your largest organ, your skin, can leave you feeling confident and happier with your appearance.

As well, we are eager to dispel the concept of youthfulness as the mark of beauty. The age-old adage that says, nothing makes you look older than trying to look young, rings particularly true in this regard. Notwithstanding, you are the captain of your ship, and should adjust your sails to your liking.

Cosmetic Expiry Dates It’s important to be mindful of the expiry dates on your cosmetics because placing products on your face that are long expired is just a skin infection waiting to happen.

As well, with time, the quality of cosmetics just degrades naturally, so they won’t apply or look the way they should. Always remember to store your cosmetics in a cool, dry place!

Lastly, when in doubt smell it out. A little bit musty or sour smelling means it’s time to chuck it!
