renovation update The library renovation project is on schedule for completion this May. Our new Youth Services Department on the first floor is earning rave reviews from parents, caregivers, and some of our most important customers, the children of the Barrington area. Adults and teens have been enjoying their new spaces on the second floor. We now have a drive-up return box at the main library, too. Look for it in the northeast corner of the main parking lot, by the X sculpture.

fun for families Due to our ongoing renovation project, some library programs will be held at The Garlands of Barrington. Events not requiring registration are first come, first served, as space is available.

World Read Aloud Day

Wednesday, March 5, 12 – 6 PM

To celebrate World Read Aloud Day, library staff will share a favorite story with you every hour! Come and hear a story, or share one of your own. Playhouse Stage.

Llama Llama… by Emerald City Theatre Saturday, March 22, 10:30 AM All ages

An all-out Llama drama based on the family-favorite books by Anna Dewdney. Kids and adults will enjoy this live production starring the rhyming Llamas. The Garlands Center for the Performing Arts.

Plant a Seed with Smart Farm of Barrington Monday, April 21, 10 AM Ages 2 – 6 w/ caregiver

Smart Farm of Barrington will teach kids about sustainable gardening with a fun planting project. Dress for a mess, so you don’t get “dirt”-y. Register. Program Room.

spring break Bookface

Monday, March 24, 3:30 – 5 PM Grades 5 – 8

Pose with a book cover and the face on the book will become your own! Bring your own book or use ours. Just drop in during the program time – no need to register. Program Room.

Toontastic

Tuesday, March 25, 1:30 & 3 PM Grades 1 – 3

Use iPads to draw and narrate an animated story. Register. Story Room.

Family Fort Building

Wednesday, March 26, 2 PM

Bring your family and friends and build a fort out of newspaper. Just drop in. Program Room.

Light Bright Stop-Motion Animation Wednesday, March 26, 7 – 7:45 PM Grades 6 – 8 Filmmakers will work together to create a stop-motion animation movie using the light bright wall in Youth Services. Register. Youth Services Town Center.
