Barratt Health & Wellbeing Month: Week 2 10 October marks World Mental Health Day, and this year’s theme is 'Make mental health and wellbeing a priority for all’. At Barratt, we're continuing to focus on supporting mental health across the business as part of our overall health and wellbeing strategy. Did you know? 1 in 4 people experience poor mental health in their lifetime and sadly, every day 2 people in the UK working in construction die by suicide.
What does good mental health look like? Paying attention to mental health isn't something we should just do if we are experiencing problems. It’s something we should be thinking about all the time. Just like we do with physical health, we should take time to invest in our mental health, we don't need to wait until we are struggling to do so. There are lots of things we can do every day to look after our mental health and wellbeing. Check-out these six top tips from the NHS. For more on looking after our own mental health, including support on stress, anxiety, helping someone else, including children, check out NHS Every Mind Matters. Want to know more? On Thursday 13 October 10-11am why not join our webinar focused on Managing uncertainty in an uncertain world. The session will provide information, tools and tips to support you in maintaining good mental wellbeing. Please click here to register.
Ask twice Did you know? A person is likely to say "I am fine" on average 14 times a day in response to “how are you?”. This might happen more when we’re working in a hybrid way, with fewer opportunities for face-to-face interactions and being limited to digital forms of communication. Asking twice encourages us to break this ‘pleasantry’ barrier to show real care, concern and value towards one another. Read more about Ask twice here. Please remember that staying connected, talking and listening can be a great way to support your own and others mental health and wellbeing.
