BIOGRAPHIES Christopher Rudd

is a Jamaican-born dance maker, a 2019

Guggenheim Choreography Fellow, and the inaugural New Victory Theater LabWorks Launch Artist at the New Victory Theater in NYC. He blends contemporary ballet with contemporary circus to speak to relevant social issues. Mr. Rudd was commissioned by American Ballet Theatre and created the groundbreaking Touché, the company’s first explicitly homosexual duet. He has also choreographed for the Alvin Ailey School, Duke University, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Harlem Stage’s EMoves, Ballet Divertimento in Montreal, Canada, and Muiktheater Vorarlberg in Austria. In addition to being the first recipient of The New World School of the Arts Alumni Foundation’s Inspiration Grant, Mr. Rudd has been awarded grants from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, New Music USA, American Dance Abroad, Career Transition For Dancers, Harlem Stage’s Fund for New Work, World Learning Global Development & Exchange, U.S. Embassy Burkina Faso, and Arts Envoy – a program supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs.Mr. Rudd has also been awarded residencies from Works & Process at the Guggenheim, Tofte Lake Center, Kaatsbaan, STREB Lab for Action Mechanics, Vendetta Mathea La Manufacture, and Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture through the CUNY Dance Initiative. Mr. Rudd founded RudduR Dance to create works of high artistic merit and as a platform to better the world through dance. RudduR Dance made its SummerStage debut by participating in a globally accessible Juneteenth Tribute on June 19, 2020. Currently, Mr. Rudd is working to develop and complete his highly anticipated Witness.

Sarah Lozoff (SDC)

is the resident intimacy director for RudduR Dance, as well as

the first intimacy director to work with American Ballet Theatre, on the groundbreaking commissioned work, Touché. She was also the first resident intimacy director for a major regional theater at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Sarah is a partner with Production on Deck, a certified Gyrotonic trainer, and a movement director. For more than twenty years, Sarah taught ballet for professional companies, conservatories, public schools, and outreach programs.

She has been a guest speaker and co-facilitated workshops on intimacy direction at Stanford, University of California, Santa Barbara, University of Kentucky, Lexington, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and the Society of American Fight Directors. In addition to her performing arts background, Sarah has a rich history with both social justice work, and birth work.

Nicole Duffy

is a director of The Gerald Arpino Foundation and teaches the

ballets of Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino around the world. She is also a cofounder and Associate Artistic Director of New York Dance Project, a hybrid company that bridges divides and creates opportunities in dance. As a member of the Joffrey Ballet for over a decade, she performed classic ballets by Joffrey, Arpino, Ashton, Balanchine, Cranko, DeMille, Limon, Massine, and Nijinska, as well as contemporary works by Alonzo King, David Parsons, and others. She is currently a Visiting Artist at Barnard College and also teaches the Ballet Hispanico company and Pa’lante scholars. Ms. Duffy was raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she danced the classical and Balanchine repertory with Ballets de San Juan under Ana Garcia and Maria Carrera, and worked with local choreographer Ramon Molina. As a guest artist, she enjoyed dancing the principal roles in Giselle, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Coppelia.

Ms. Duffy has a BA in Art History from Columbia University’s School of General Studies, a Masters degree in Dance and Art History from NYU’s Gallatin School.

Candace Brown

@CanDANCEbrown is a dancer/choreographer/instructor with a

huge passion for the art of dance. She has traveled to teach and choreograph all over the world. She has choreographed for artists like Nicole Scherzinger, and danced/assisted major choreographers on various television shows like X-Factor, Dancing With The Stars, Dickinson, Billboard Awards, BET's Black Girls Rock and the VMAs. Performing credits include appearances with Janet Jackson, Beyonce, and Janelle Monae. Most recently Candace debuted her first full-length evening show called "The Soul Spot," which was held at the Tank Theater in the heart of Manhattan, with three sold out audiences. Candace is currently faculty at Broadway Dance Center, and Peridance in NYC.

Shannon Gillen

has had an extensive career as a dancer and choreographer in

NYC and Europe. She was a member of the Johannes Wieland company based at Staatstheater Kassel in Germany; won commissions from Mainfranken Theater Würzburg, the International Solo-Tanz Theater Festival in Stuttgart, the TIF theater in Kassel, and was also selected as a THINK BIG choreographer-in-residence at Staatsoper Hannover. Upon returning to the states, Shannon founded VIM VIGOR as the home for her collaborative choreographic and educational endeavors. Her work has been commissioned across the USA, Canada, Central America, South America and Europe. Additional projects include commissions by fashion label PHELAN for NY Fashion Week, DANCEworks at the Lobero Theatre, Hubbard Street 2, Gibney Dance Company, Boston Dance Theater and de Danseurs in NL; notable festivals and venues where her work has been seen include NYLA, Prisma Festival, Judson Church, Springboard Danse, PULSE Art Fair/Art Basel, Bryant Park, NYC's River to River Festival, The Joyce, and Jacob’s Pillow. In 2018, Shannon was a choreographer in residence at the Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton and recently had works premiere at the ICA in Boston, UNCSA, Rutgers University, University of Utah, Gibney Dance, Over het lj in the Netherlands and will return to the b12 Festival in Berlin in 2021/2022. Dedicated to educating the next generation of artists, Gillen has created a physical dance theater education platform with VIM VIGOR with annual winter and summer programming. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School (BFA) and Tisch School of the Arts at NYU (MFA) and teaches as an Associate Professor of Dance at The University of Michigan.

Jason Cianciulli

is a founding member and co-choreographer with VIM VIGOR. He

joined the company while attending SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance. Since receiving his BFA he has taught at various institutions on behalf of VIM, including The Juilliard School, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, the University of Michigan, Barnard College, and Arts Umbrella. He is currently an adjunct professor at SUNY Purchase in the Conservatory of Dance. Additionally he has collaborated with Shannon Gillen on creations for LA Dance Project, Gibney Dance Company, and Springboard Danse Montreal. Previously, Jason was a rehearsal director and performer with PunchDrunk in Sleep No More NYC.

Dava Huesca,

from New York City, is an alumni SUNY Purchase Conservatory of

Dance and Fiorello LaGuardia Arts High School. Dava is the curator for New York Times and Dance Spirit magazine cited instagram @Issadancelook.

Additionally, she is the co-founder of the interdisciplinary arts collective LLAB RATS. Through LLAB RATS, she has performed and set work with Dorchel Haqq for Battery Dance Festival, Ciclo Dos, Purchase Dance company, Arts on site, The Craft NYC and others. Dava’s has worked with notable concert choreographers such as Martha Graham Dance Company, Sidra Bell, Maxine Doyle, Manuel Vigoulle, Johannes Weiland, Vanessa Goodman, Rena Butler, MAZE dance company, and VIM VIGOR dance company. Dava is an 2 year participant of Springboard Danse Montreal, through Springboard Danse Dava was hired with VIMVIGOR Dance company in 2019. Dava teaches floor work contemporary classes throughout NYC including Peridance, SUNY Purchase, Gibney dance, the Playground NYC and more. In January 2021, Dava was the first Springboard Danse Montreal nominated recipient of Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation AIR Founder’s Residency. Through this nomination Dava premiered her first Dance Film "New Growth".

Jessica Smith

is a New York City based dancer from New Orleans, Louisiana. She

studied at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, London Contemporary Dance School, and received her BFA in dance from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College. She has performed with companies such as Punchdrunk's Sleep No More NYC, Vim Vigor Dance Company, ZviDance and Kizuna Dance. She continues to teach and set work at schools, festivals, and training programs throughout the U.S. and internationally including: Juilliard, Purchase College, Princeton University, Rutgers University, Barnard College, Springboard Danse Montreal (Canada), Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts Camp, Peridance Certificate Program, Gibney Dance, Blois Danse Festival (France), and DanzaMed Temporada Internacional de Danza de Medellín (Columbia). Jessica is the Associate Director of Arts on Site NYC, a non-profit arts organization, as well as Co-Founder and CoArtistic Director of Dual Rivet, a highly physical contemporary dance company based in NYC.

Tricia Toliver

(Production Manager) is the resident Lighting Designer/Technical

Director for the Barnard College Dance Department. She has worked for the Vail International Dance Festival since 2013 an has also stage managed for Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Project. She has had the pleasure of working primarily in the dance world for such companies as the Trisha Brown Dance Company, Lucinda Childs, Lar Lubovitch, The Limon Dance Company, Doug Varone and Dancers, Donald Byrd/The Group, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, Susan Marshall, David Dorfman Dance and Complexions. Her other credits include production management for the National Ballet of Cuba, Netherlands Dance Theatre II, City Center Theater and NJPAC as well as stage managing Cirque Dreams, Jungle Fantasy on Broadway in 2008. She has a B.A. in dance from UCLA and an M.F.A. in dance from the University of Washington and danced with Donald Byrd/The Group from 1987-1991.

Barbara Erin Delo

is a Costume Designer and Artisan working in dance, theatre

and opera. A New York native, she has previously designed costumes for Williamstown Theatre Company, Theatre at St Clements (The Bigot, Off Broadway premier), Martha Graham Dance Company, The Flea, Castillo Theatre, Parsons Dance Company, Megan Williams Dance Projects, Capital Repertory Theatre, Battery Dance Company, NYC Fringe Festival, Chain Theatre Company, Third Rail Productions as well as many other NY and regional theatres. She studied costume design at SUNY Binghamton and NYU Tisch.
