HEADMISTRESS’S WELCOME
Another packed term rich in educational experiences with highlights including our Summer Magic Day, our End of Year Celebration and of course our enrichment experiences for the children. Prep School prides itself on achieving high academic standards, high expectations and superb levels of pastoral care in an environment where every child can reach their potential.
One glance at the Barney Way clearly shows how our children have been successful in learning respect, responsibility, resilience, confidence, teamwork, and motivation, to feel good about themselves and, most importantly of all, to be happy.
From sports to music, drama to School trips, there is always a huge amount on offer at Prep School which helps us to develop such well-rounded and talented young people. The photographs and reports on the pages to follow, capture the excitement and exhilaration of these many activities and opportunities over this last term. The possibilities are endless for our Preppies.

The true measure of a successful year can be made by counting the doors children have opened, the knowledge that they have gained, and the friendships forged along the way. I hope you enjoy looking back at some of the highlights of our Trinity Term and it will inspire you to look forward to what is yet to come.

Well done to our 'Golden' Preppies!
Many congratulations to our first cohort of pupils who were awarded their Gold Junior Duke Awards! We are proud to be one of only a few schools in our region to offer this qualification as part of our comprehensive co-curricular programme, which helps equip young people with vital skills that stands them in good stead for Senior School and beyond.

Best wishes to all other Preppies who are currently working towards their Micro, Mini and Junior Awards!

Year 5 dazzle in Mystery at Magpie Manor!

Well done to the Year 5 cast and staff, who produced such an AMAZING production of Mystery at Magpie Manor!

Our Preppies worked tirelessly learning lines and rehearsing to put on a fantastic show for parents and guests over two evenings.

Set in the 1920s, Mystery at Magpie Manor was a hugely entertaining and energetic ‘whodunit’ play. Magpie Manor was in a great state of disrepair and owners Lord and Lady Pica needed to act swiftly to save their run-down estate. They came up with a plan to sell off the family silver, but as the rich and famous guests arrive for an auction ball, strange things occured and when the family heirloom is unveiled, it had disappeared!
Fortunately, Agatha Christie, a guest, was on hand to solve the mystery and caught Inspector Spectre stealing the Pica Pica Solid Silver Pitcher with the Magpie Picture!
Take a bow, Preppies!

Year 6 close out their Prep School journeys with magnificent Murder at the Hotel Crumhorn performances!

Year 6’s end of term production of Murder at the Hotel Crumhorn was just SUPERB!

The Year 6 pupils delivered two spectacular performances, despite very limited rehearsal time, as part of their hectic schedule to close out the year! Lasting just shy of an hour, the production saw all the horror story characters convene at the Hotel Crumhorn to elect a new President, along with a couple of hapless humans! One by one the characters are bumped off by an unknown perpetrator and it is up to Inspector Spigot and Sergeant Grimley to apprehend the villain!
We are grateful to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it such a huge success.
Bravo, Preppies!
Whole School Platinum Jubilee Celebration!
Barney expressed its sincere gratitude for Queen Elizabeth II’s dedication to public life, as we recognised Her Majesty’s historic reign as the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
Our entire School community enjoyed a ‘Garden Party’ as both Prep and Senior Schools came together ahead of the Platinum Jubilee.

Tables and Union Jack-themed bunting and tableware were assembled on our grounds in the shape of an ‘E’ to recognised Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Well done to all musicians and CCF personnel who added to the occasion with rousing renditions of the National Anthem and Jerusalem, together with an exemplary parade.

It was the perfect way to close out an enthralling Half Term, filled with exciting events, activities and lasting memories.
A HUGE thank you to everyone involved, especially our Support Staff teams, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver such a wonderful afternoon.
Remembering Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
While preparing the latest edition of The Barney Way, we, along with the rest of the world, were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
The entire Barney community gives thanks for the extraordinary life and work of Her Majesty, whose incredible, historic reign was nothing short of admirable, and we are eternally grateful for her service and dedication to public life.

End of Term Celebration Day!

It was wonderful to welcome members of our community to Barney for our Whole School End of Term Celebration Day on the final day of the 2021/2022 academic year.

Comprising activities for parents across both Schools, with two Sports Days, it was the perfect way to close out a memorable year, while affording the Barney community the opportunity to meet staff and learn about some of the work and activities the pupils have completed this term, following interruptions brought about by COVID these last two years.
Thank you for joining us for a fantastic day from start to finish, despite heavy downpours in the afternoon!
Once a Preppie, always a Preppie!
We observed a lovely Valedictory Service for our Year 6 leavers and their parents on the penultimate day of term, officially marking the end of their Prep School journeys.

It was lovely to welcome parents and family members to our first physical Valedictory Service since 2019 for the moving ceremony.
We wish you all nothing but the very best at Senior School!
