Poems about the small things
By: Barley Lewis-McCabe
They say it's an uncontrollable path of chaos and fear.
The greatest souls losing hope from the acceptance of entropy and apathy.
Concrete and plastic poured over grass and man made clouds cover the sky.
Nevertheless a man plays the guitar on the street, and squirrels climb their trees.
Friends run and dance in the street, no mind for another moment.
Music echoes through the halls as families of all kinds sit together, love louder than anything else.

Windy
Everything is calm.
Acome down after a sobering day, Aretirement from the burst of energy that follows a life lived without vice.
Something found in a nothing place.
No excitement, or drama, nothing of sustenance or anything at all.

The Party Dude
It’s a simple life made for love and music
Embracing the unknown, and allowing yourself to live past simple existence.
To abandon restraint and be a friend, to go beyond the context of normalcy and embrace what you’ve been taught to abandon.

Anostrotum The Great!
Left the wife, she got the house, but I ain't got nothing to cry about, cause I got something a lot better! bossman was mad but I didn't cry, they can just get some other guymaybe one who doesn't care about his dreams.
Lost the suit got a cloak, stars and crystals makes it real baroque It matches my real big hat. never had fear or a shred of doubt, cause I knew I’d figure it out.
I just couldn’t get the rabbit to pop out right.
Friends see me on the street and go on and on, bout how I’ll regret leaving it all for a cap and a wand but, they just don’t get it
They can’t see the magic in me, the tricks and spirits are what make you free.
The life of wizardry’s the life for me.

Reeling In The Years
It’s a moment that could outlive us both. The wind blows in our faces as we share an afternoon.Your cheeks are red as cherries and your smile shines brighter than the summer sun.
It’s a walk between old friends, one filled with laughter-lacking in any subtle or calm. Any issues of the past are gone. All that

Its something passing, but something true and perfect nevertheless. Snapshots of the meaning of it all a nice evening shadowed by the fear of the inevitable.

We sat on plastic stools and ate our dinner. Not talking, just sweating from the humidity, our shirts sticking to our backs. Ameal between brothers, and one that you don’t appreciate until it’s over.

Practical Magic
Most people don't believe in magic. They can say it's hooey or hogwash, but that doesn't change the way the wind blows. It isn't rabbits and hats, or busking wizards. It's being silent together and sharing something special. Creating music or laying in the grass. It's found when you're able to let go of your skepticism and fear, when you're not looking for it.

Urbanite Roadside Attraction
In the darkness the road goes on forever, an endless stretch of asphalt and paint
The streetlight buzz replaces lost music or the whirr of cars.
Stars replaces with urban fog or satellites, and there's not a thing on my mind.
But that's ok, in the end nothing’s as scary as something.

Heart To Heart
It’s a strange way to be welcomed into someone’s heart.
a way where you didn’t expect it you don’t even know it’s happening. suddenly guided to the right point.

I walked home late and alone, I looked in car windows, saw my slouch was fixed. I spent hours talking to my family, people who were strangers not too long ago. It's scary, that everything can change so quickly, Something that's so unexpected, yet natural. To deny it is to disregard a part of yourself, To forget the unexpected beauty of life.
Me and Amy
As momentous as it is it’s not something all that exciting. years of buildup and excitement, all coming to a crux in something unexpectedly calm. Not celebrated with booze or loud energetic music, not surrounded by people you love, not with a party or excitement.
Just a cold breeze and wet hair, just me and Amy
