Championing Allied Health Professionals
from EACTS News - March
by Barley02
Cardiac surgery requires a multi-disciplinary team effort to improve outcomes for patients. Allied health professionals - nurses, nurse practitioners, surgical care practitioners, therapists, perfusionists and other non-surgeons - play a vital role providing critical pre- and post-operative care, ensuring patients have the best possible chance of recovery after surgery.
To champion the role and influence of Allied Health Professionals, EACTS has established the Allied Health Professionals Committee. The Committee, chaired by Dr Richard Van Valen, will lead, advise and support EACTS activities in all matters concerning cardiothoracic allied health professionals, including educational output, research, training and guidelines.
