Cycling (bike riding) has been found to improve mental and physical health and increase community connection and life enjoyment. Although cycling has many benefits, people with disabilities participate in cycling much less than others. This is because there are many barriers that make it difficult to access cycling.
Barkuma has been involved in a project with UniSA and BikeSA to remove barriers to cycling.
I used to have my own bike, but I don’t anymore. I use their bikes on Mondays.
I like riding outside, I feel safe. You have to watch out for cars and trucks, stop at the corners.
I feel more confident now.
Do the ABCD check before riding:
• Air in tyres.
• Brakes are working.
• Chain spinning backward.
• Drop the bike gently to ensure no loose parts.
The project uses virtual reality technology to practice and assess riding and road safety skills and ensure people are comfortable on a stationary bike. The next step is taking the bikes and trikes outside, practising in empty car parks and on quiet streets.
The project team supports all skill levels from people who have never ridden a bike to advanced riders, and is looking for more people to join. If you want to try cycling in a supportive environment, get in touch with Barkuma today at 8414 7100 barkuma@barkuma.com.au.

What’s the Buzz?
Pizza: Each time I buy these, they have a perfect amount of flavouring. A favourite choice to have at parties, don't you agree?
Nacho Cheese: Mexican spices with the cheese bring out the freshness. Shape itself is fun to eat around. The flavour is not overpowering, and it can be pretty addictive!
BBQ: A great classic. The flavour is so delicious, and colours remind me of fireworks. It is an excellent snack to binge-watch.
Vegemite: Recent flavour to the game and left a warm impression. The savoury is just right and is a perfect pair with fresh cheese. You can't get any more Aussie than Vegemite Shapes.
Do you have a favourite flavour?

What we’re buzzing about! BOOK
Nat’s What I Reckon: Death to Jar Sauce By Phoebe
This book is a recipe book which is quite famous and has illustrations in the style of a graphic novel. The author, Nat, has a YouTube channel where he teaches people how to cook from scratch. He is very funny which makes the book very entertaining. This recipe book will teach you how to make several dishes like Spaghetti Bolognese, Brownies and Lasagne.
I like this book because I like the titles of the recipes. My personal favourite is ‘End of Days Bolognese’. Nat is very good at making the recipes easy to follow and I also really enjoy his videos and I think you will enjoy both the book and the videos as well.
Warning: Explicit language. Nat uses some swear words in his book and uses a lot in his videos.
BEAUTY
Fruity Perfume Picks By Roo
Britney Spears, Jungle Fantasy EDT
Imagine a tropical summer breeze with a splash of watermelon. It is a very outdoorsy scent. I wear this when I go to the beach.
Ariana Grande, Cloud Pink EDP
This perfume has a fruity scent with a pleasant combination of vanilla and a hint of candy. It is a compliment-getter and is budget-friendly.
Nicki Minaj, Minajesty EDP
A perfume I wear for special occasions. It has a strong berry smell. When I spray, I feel happy and chirpy.
Most perfumes I wear are fruity, like me, cause I'm fruity.

Cleland Wildlife Park
I loved visiting Cleland Wildlife Park. Thank you to the staff, especially Shelly, for making it happen. Feeding the friendly kangaroos and other animals was amazing. Walking along the park paths, I fed a Potoroo and a Wallaby. The Wallaby put its tiny hand in mine, giving me a happy feeling inside.
It is located at 365 Mount Lofty Summit Rd, Cleland SA 5152. To find out more go to: www. clelandwildlifepark.sa.gov.au

Hahndorf Academy

The Birdwood Museum
Birdwood Museum holds a special memory for me. When I was just six years old, my parents gifted me my first toy car, which I still cherish to this day. The museum is home to some of Australia’s most fascinating transportation exhibits, making it an excellent destination to create happy memories with loved ones. During my visit, I particularly enjoyed sitting in one of the old cars on display and experiencing the past firsthand. The staff at the Birdwood Museum have autism training so that everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy the activities and interactive displays.
It is located at Shannon Street, Birdwood, SA 5234.

Mount Lofty Summit
The scenery at Mount Lofty Summit was beautiful, the best part of the scenery was peacefully looking out and seeing pretty butterflies along with trees and flowers. Another interesting fact that l found out was in 1885 the white Obelisk, 16.5 meters tall was built as a trigonometric survey station used to establish latitude and longitude of places near Adelaide and was built to replace the wooden structure that existed previously. It is located at 266 Mount Lofty Summit Road, Crafers SA 5152.
For more information go to: www.mountloftysummit.com
The Beerenberg Farm
Mount Lofty Gardens
The Mount Lofty Gardens is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery where l was admiring the trees that are starting to change colour and lots of brightly coloured flowers. When l was walking around the gardens l noticed some stone steps that l liked the look of and they took me to a lake where you can bring a picnic blanket sit back and enjoy the sunshine with friends and family.
It is located at 16 Lampert Road, Crafers SA 5152.

If you’re a fan of Beerenberg jams, particularly the strawberry flavour, then a visit to the Beerenberg farm in the Adelaide Hills is a must. I loved the taste of their strawberries because they are not too sour and have a lovely sweetness to them. The strawberries themselves also looked amazing. A useful tip we learned during our visit is to choose the red coloured strawberries for the best flavour.
The farm’s seasonal picking runs until April. It is located at Mount Barker Road Hahndorf, SA 5245. For more information go to: beerenberg.com.au
