Darcy’s Sun Safety Tips
Stay in the shade whenever you can. It will keep you cool and protect your skin.
Other tips for staying cool in the heat:
When you are going outside for a while, always put on sunscreen. Put it anywhere that is not covered by clothes and shoes. Don’t forget your face, ears, back of your neck, hands and feet if they will be in the sun. Put more sunscreen on after 2 hours or every time you go for a swim.
Use a fan or air conditioner if you can. If your house is not cool, you can go to a shopping centre or a library where there is air conditioning to stay cool during the day. Wear lightweight long sleeves and long pants if you can to protect your skin from sunburn. But don’t wear anything that will make you too hot.
Have a cool shower.
Wipe your face and skin with a cool cloth.
Keep drinking lots of water.
Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, water is your friend.
Wear a hat with a brim to protect your head, face and neck from sunburn. 8
