In the age of information and technology, it is not surprising that the government has decided to launch a policy that professes that technology will be the answer to all the development needs. Such is the Smart City Mission in India which aims at developing 100 cities into Smart Cities by 2030. Stirred by this new mission, many local bodies have developed independent plans to introduce smart solutions into their localities. In Mumbai, the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has identified certain areas within the cities perimeter where they would look at introducing these plans. The group was interested to see what the plan promised and to what extent this met the needs of the people who would fall within its permits.
They have adopted a gendered lens in their study, as they believed that the voices of women has largely been left out of the development plans; so it would be interesting to see what they had to say about this new Smart City plan
