We are pleased to host another outstanding sale offering of these females “bred to be cows”… backed by cattle people who breed them to work in some of the harshest range conditions in North America. It proves the Simmental and SimGenetics females can work in any environment. And the Wild Wild West sale showcases these breeding programs.

The heifer pen show is Monday, January 15th, with the One Sale that evening. The Junior show and the bull show on the hill is Tuesday, the 16th.

The Colorado Simmental Association works hard to make the National Western Stock Show Simmental events a reality. They are a small, but mighty group! Almost single handily, they put on the National Western Stock Simmental Show. So to help with some of those costs, the Wild Wild West will donate the Lot 1 semen tank and semen donation proceeds. We appreciate your support of this lot!

Western Cattle Source is located in northwest Nebraska near the town of Crawford Ne. We raise reg. Simmental and commercial cattle along with a small Quarter horse program as well. I started raising registered Simmental cattle in the mid to late 1980’s. Prior to that we were using Simmental bulls on our commercial Angus Hereford cross cows. WCS emphasizes bulls and females that will work for our customers under several kind of environments. We currently run around 550 mother cows and 120 bred heifers every year. The cows are split about 300 registered and 300 commercial cows. We put embryos in the commercial cows every spring. Our cows run on rugged terrain varying from rough pine tree covered ground to badlands and the Ogallala grasslands. We trail our cows 24 miles to the grasslands and the rest get trailed 15 to 30 miles to and from pasture every year. Our cows have to work for us as they need to be super sound with good feet and legs and perform on limited feed. It takes between 15 to 25 acres to run a pair for five months. We need our steer calves to perform in the feedlot and hang with a superior carcass. We select our females to be feminine in design, super sound, good bone and feet, with capacity and high quality udders is a must along with a good disposition. Our bulls are designed to hold up under rugged terrain for our customers.

We try to raise outcross genetics to the breed.

We are currently part of the Foxy Ladies Sale where we sale bred heifers and handful of elite opens. We are also part of the Wild Wild West Sale during the NWSS in Denver. We consign every year to the BHSS in Rapid City SD as well.

WCS currently markets all of our bull calves private treaty.

We market around 60 to 70 bulls a year. We keep the top quarter of our bull crop every year. WCS markets a few show heifers privately every year.

WCS shows a pen of bulls every year at the NWSS where we have had great success over the years. We show periodically at other state fairs and national shows. We have had the luxury of having raised or owned several champions through the years.

We started in 1971 (ASA# 2729) with the purchase of 7 Parisien daughters bred to Bismark and have turned 16 generations from one of those heifers including our Princess and Julie lines, all AI sired. Our Oval F Linda L320 cow is a story in herself and has produced many popular sale cattle at the Wild Wild West and other national sales. We believe in the ASA slogan “The Cow Makes the Difference”.

Our bulls are marketed through private treaty and we are proud of the repeat business from commercial cattlemen in our area.

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to the Wild Wild West Sale. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers who have supported us and invested into our genetics over the previous years. It is so great to see the success our past customers have had. Not only success in the show ring but best of all to see our heifers sold in previous Wild Wild West sales go on to produce offspring in other sales.

Again this year our small “cow power” group of cows (25 head) have produced another great set of heifers with substance, volume and cow look. These heifers are out of our top producing cows - ones have produced top sellers in years past. They are deeper in quality and we feel they would be a great asset to anyone’s program. For the first time we are offering more purebred heifers than percentage heifers. In fact our pen of three heifers entered in the National Western Stock Show are a group of March purebred heifers. All the heifers are tested negative for PI-BVD. Videos of the heifers will be taken at a later date and posted to our website.

heifers offered in this sale are out of our clean up bull we raised, AHLB Special Delivery, full sib to AHLB Hidden Treasure – one of the high sellers in the 2014 Wild Wild West Sale. He only sired four heifers and what a great job he did. All four are in this sale. It’s total satisfaction knowing and seeing what our genetics can produce.

A great set of bulls - mates to these heifers - are offered for sale. Three bulls will be in the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic Sale, Kearney, NE in February and the rest are for sale by private treaty. These bulls are in Wayne, Nebraska and taken care of by Cashley.

Far Out Cattle Ranch is located southeast of Walsh, CO. We are owned and operated by Jerrid and Katie Brisendine, as well as our three children Chelsea, Trace and Taylor.

We started out Simmental herd in 2005 and became an ASA member # 245425. This year we have expanded our herd with the purchase of bred heifers from Bridle Bit Simmentals and Garrett Thomas.

We are looking for these heifers to bring us new and exciting improvements to our herd.

In striving for top genetics we are also looking to produce sound, quality cattle. Our bulls are bred to throw top gaining calves and we are always looking for improvement. Alongside Bridle Bit Simmentals, our bulls will also be monitored on feed efficiency through the GrowSafe Systems Ltd., under the supervision of Tom Jones, owner and manager of High Plains Feedyard, Montezuma, KS. The bulls will be featured in the All Terrain Bulls Sale March 19, 2018.
