Kentucky Beef Expo Simmental 2019 Sale

Page 1

March 2, 2019 Kentucky Fair & Expo Center

New Market Hall, Louisville, KY

The Kentucky Beef Expo has a long standing tradition of a well respected outlet for beef cattle producers through the east and southeast to market their animals. 2019 is the 33rd year of the Kentucky Beef Expo. We are proud that the Simmental breed has continued to be one of the most successful events at the expo in respects to both the participation by breeders and the attendance and gross. All of this is only capable because of the dedicated group of breeders who come back year after year to showcase their operation’s genetics at the Kentucky Beef Expo. This year we have many great consignors with the majority being from Kentucky then our border states of Indiana and Illinois plus genetics from South Dakota. We invite you to join us on Friday afternoon for the show where you will be able to visually appraise the animals as they walk through the show ring. This is a great opportunity to put your own eyes on the lots that have caught your attention as you were flipping through the catalog. The opens will show as purebreds and percentage followed by the breds and bulls. I expect the show to be extremely good however the consistency and quality throughout the offering is the best ever. Then on Saturday morning, we will have opens, breds, bulls, and genetic lots for sale in New Market Hall. The offering is backed by some of the top cow families in the breed, and this group of consignors is working hard to continue the success of the Simmental events at the expo. Of course as you are looking through the catalog, we invite you to visit with any of the consignors of lots you might be interested in. Study the consignors page as well great breeders are represented at this years event like always. As always we want to thank the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Kentucky Farm Bureau for their continued support of the expo. It makes it easy for us to do our job putting together a great set of Simmental genetics for customers when the event is top notch. Bring the entire family to take in the Beef Expo. If you can’t be with us, join us online at DVAuction, or contact any of the sale staff. It’s always a great event in Kentucky and we hope to see you there. If you never have been to the expo I encourage you to attend and see what the Simmental breed has to offer. Call for a catalog or any other details. Don’t forget three special events happening in Louisville that involves kids and families from across the U.S. The Ky state show is in June and the AJSA Jr National will be in July and be hosted by the Simmental Breeders Sweepstakes. Juniors members will be able to compete in some of the breeds best shows. So, the Kentucky Beef Expo is a great place to select your next show prospect for the summer. Be involved and join in the fun and make a lifetime of memories.

Join us live on Facebook on the DP Sales Management page for a live stream of the sale cattle show on Friday, March 1st.

Selling three embryos (Duracell T52 IVF unsexed embryos and Deplorabull D148 IVF sexed heifer embryos) guarantee one pregnancy if work is performed by a certified embryologist. This is a exciting lot with loads of potential and upside. You have the opportunity to select from these two sires from the legendary and proven red donor Red Jewell. Duracell is a past North American champion and is the sire of many champions in our breed today and the list grows each season. This is the first time we have offered the mating sired by Deplorabull and they are Sexed Heifer embryos. Deplorabull is a champion and his first progeny are among many of the highlights. Look for more great progeny. In this past North American, the sale topper was a Red Jewell daughter at $ 40,000. Progeny have been sale toppers in many programs across the country. Both of these mating’s will hit big time so make a invest for big returns and genetic merit. Better yet, buy all six. The Deplorable embryos are exportable to Canada.

Selling 3 embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy if work is performed by a certified embryologist. Daisy Mae has been a strong pillar of great genetics for many years. As a past show winner and long time donor her progeny and lineage never go out of style. This family has consistency and predictability bred in for sure. Daisy Mae sired the North American champion Packin Heat and the division champion for the Udell family. This is the first time embryos have been offered by the Hudson Pines high seller Classified. Selling three embryos guarantee one pregnancy. Look up Daisy Mae cow card, she is a cornerstone. Also, look up the Daisy Mae progeny in the sale offered by Long Ridge. I think Michelle will tell you her Daisy Mae is her best donor. Look up the family members.

Selling 3 IVF reverse sorted embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy if work is performed by a certified embryologist. Words cannot do this exceptional female justice, but I will give it my best shot. The moment we laid eyes on ‘Big B’ we knew she would do great things. She came into our lives just when we needed her and gave us the show season of a lifetime. Her elegance in the show ring and maternal power in the pasture has made her a forever home at Double Image Cattle Company. Her success in the ring continued to prove that the Beautiful cow family are champions and her offspring are no exception. We want others to share in the pride and joy that we have been blessed with by this amazing female. We are offering up the choice of embryos between two matings. On one hand you have the tried and true TNGL Grand Fortune Z467. Y100 offspring from this mating have already found their way to the backdrop with elegant purple banners flowing behind them. In the other hand you have the powerhouse that demanded a hefty $205,000 in Werning’s 2017 sale. W/C Bankroll 811D has a lot to offer in this mating aside from his growing popularity. This is a match made in heaven with the complementary power, structure, and ability to raise desirable offspring. Regardless of which mating you select, you simply cannot go astray with opportunities like these. We have faith that Y100 offspring will continue to prosper and prevail for many years to come. We hope that you will come to love her and her offspring just as we have.

Star of Jade is daughter of the American Royal champion female RF Black Jade. If you need some history just check in with Kip Bonnell or check our his web site. What a family and track record. Quantum B 1809 is a striking red 3/4 Quantum Leap out of a Broker first calf heifer. And WOW is she a good one! The photo is not by a professional as she was not cleaned up for the scheduled photo day so we took this shot of her out in the run on one of the rare days with sunshine in January. This is just how she looks. Super sound, great body with tremendous volume and rib shape, she also has that show ring presence from both her sire and grandsire. The maternal grand dam is our Daltons Juanada 7331 donor that has produced several top show ring offspring, so this pedigree has a legacy of producing very desirable cattle. Jill 1803 is a fancy baldy March One Eyed Jack out of a Broker x 7331 first calf heifer. We have several Broker x 7331 females in the herd we find them to be excellent cows that can be bred a variety of ways and consistently get this kind of result. With this OEJ female you get that fancy “Jack” look with the bone and structure that comes from Broker along with the rib and depth that comes from the 7331 Angus donor. This heifer is really laid back, so much in fact that it is somewhat difficult to get her to give you that “look” you want for a catalog photo. She just looks at you as if to say “What?”. However on halter she knows her job and would be a great project for a showman of any age.

You know what they say about red heads. They make great show heifers and even better cows especially FB25. Her Dam was taken out one time as a calf and won her division at the always competitive Hoosier Beef congress. Now she is producing females a lot like herself, Sound, big footed, and lots of capacity. Whether you’re looking to make bulls, females, or be competitive in the show ring, you can’t miss here. If you as junior member want to take in some great events this summer such as the KSA State show, AJSA Jr Nationals and the Simmental Breeders Sweepstakes then her is one to consider. You know the family, you know the history, you know the legacy that has been built and after you see this heifer sired by Elevate hopefully you will see the potential. I always try to be a supporter of the Ky Beef Expo and if I didn’t have some good helpers I just could not do it. I let Doug pick out what ever he wanted and Matt took the picture and we will see you in Louisville at the expo. I hope some kid is smiling after the gavel falls.

This red 3/4 blood catches everyone’s attention. She has been a super calf that was quick on her feet and hasn’t caused any issues since the day she hit the ground. We have had several Bismarck/Blaze of Glory genetics in our herd and they have all done well. Based on what this cow produced here we are super excited to see the W/C Double Down calf she will be having this spring. Specifically, this heifer has all the makings to be a great cow and offers strong numbers and as you can tell, she is built correctly and even gets better every week. Futhermore, she is the right age to breed early for an early 2020 calf.

This elegant February purebred is a W/C Relentless out of our lead donor, Ryan Right To Love 104C. And what is there not to like about her? Extended front, super deep with all the right angles and just the right frame size, she is going to look great on halter back in Louisville this summer at the Jr. Nationals. We are not certain what, if anything, that we would change about her and to top it off she has really great hair. No need for a lot of words on this one; you see the photo and now you just need to see her in person, and you will not be disappointed.

Red Dream is special. I have not really had too many red ones over the years, I have two red females in the Ky Beef Expo this year and both make me think of some of the red females such as Ms Pepper and Honeysuckle Rose bred by Hugh Henry and sold in the Top Ten sales years ago; 269F is sleek necked, deep, sound and well balanced. This female is good hairy and like I said special. If you desire she never has to have a red calf.

Well over the years our small family operation has been blessed with a few good producers. The Roxie line has sent more females to the Ky Beef Expo than any others. If you want a consistent track record then this heifer will come thru time and time again. 267F is big ribbed, wide based, stout made and the right kind. The grand dam Roxie produced Scarlet 161Z which was a past high seller at the expo sale and sold to Gerdes Show Cattle. Scarlet went to not stop producing good ones with having several top selling females in the Buckles and Banners. Scarlet produced the two champion bulls at the 2017 North American Dew North and Saughatchee 161. Now Scarlet sold in the 2018 Buckles and Banners and is a part of the Griswold program. Also, Scarlet is sired by Welsh Dew It Right a past high seller at the Bulls of the Bluegrass. All special individuals.

As a individual Cherry is striking, up headed, sleek, complete and good legged. This one make me want a whole herd of red ones. We feel there is loads of opportunities with this breeding piece.

This blaze faced Steel My Heart x Two Step heifer is attractive fronted, long sided, balanced, and does not disappoint when on the move. The consistent success of Steel My Heart progeny speaks for itself, and Amelia is no exception. When showing as a junior, Septembers were always my favorite to show, as they had a full 2 year career ahead of them. Now that I have aged out, that opportunity is available for another junior exhibitor. Her genetics can enhance any herd outside of the show ring.

Francesca’s dam, Miss Werning 5016C, was a high seller at the 2017 Werning sale, going to Bill Sloup and Bill Fulton for $31,000. We couldn’t pass up the chance to purchase embryos out of this impressive young donor. Even as a 5 month old calf Francesca is deep bodied, has a beautiful profile, and is exciting to project into the future as she already resembles her dam. Her striking look combined with a great disposition will make her a prime candidate to be a show heifer and a valuable breeding piece. We think enough of this one to reserve a flush with a minimum of 6 transferable embryos.

His phenomenal EPD profile transmits into his offspring with them being low birth, high growth, high maternal and carcass oriented cattle. Her donor Dam stems from the same lines that produced the infamous WHF Sierra making her a full sib in blood to the WHF/PRS/HPF Alley 247Y Donor. All good bulls are backed by great cow families and F311 offers one of the most proven, predictable, and profitable that we can think of. Originating right here in the state of KY at Wayward Hills Farm, the “Alley” family has had quite an impact on the breed. Countless high sellers, champions, and donors at elite breeding programs across the country, 247Y has been a powerhouse in production and F311’s mother, 311C is proving she can follow in her mothers footsteps. Along with pedigree, F311 is built around the basics. Great foot and leg tie into an expressive but smooth muscle pattern in a square and balanced package. Whether you want to produce females to put back in the herd or add pounds and carcass value to a calf crop, this 3/4 blood bull will be as versatile as any.
