When the alpenglow turns the skies unbelievable hues of pink and purple it looks like a movie set. In winter it’s framed by the snowcapped mountains, and From world-renowned in summer by luscious green names to up and coming forests. Light glances off ocean, artists, Whistler has a rivers, and lakes, some of which contain the iconic salmon that vibrant art scene that’s play such an integral part in this worth exploring fragile ecosystem. This landscape, and its inhabitants, has inspired artists for thousands of years, which is evident in the wealth of First Nations art shown proudly at the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre.

Today, Whistler offers a rich and varied arts community with many galleries that showcase both local and international artists. Whistler’s galleries boast a myriad of different art forms: from stunning canvases and bears eternally captured in marble, to photography that transports you to the crest of a wind lipped mountain and wood carvings that tell of another time. From world-renowned names to up and coming artists, Whistler certainly has a vibrant art scene that’s worth exploring.

Art doesn’t just stay on the walls in this mountain town as there are hands on classes in pottery, carving, and weaving that can make for a truly unique and personal experience.

The galleries themselves are spread out from the upper village, through the main village stroll, and down to Creekside and Function Junction so there’s lots to see. Year-round you can find popular artists on the walls of cafes, awardwinning restaurants, and hotel lobbies all over the resort.

Arts and crafts can also be found in key shops throughout Whistler, where picking up a little slice of Canadian art transports the memory home.
