I Am Free A U T H O R

U N K N O W N

I am free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following paths God made for me I took his hand I heard him call Then turned, and bid farewell to all I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to sing, to play Tasks left undone must stay that way I found my peace... at close of play And if my parting left a void Then fill it with remembered joy A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened... deep with sorrow I wish you sunshine of tomorrow My life's been full I've savoured much Good friends, good times A loved one's touch Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don't lengthen it now with grief Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wants me now... He set me free.

lois V. Crum a native of the great city of Atlanta, GA fourth child of eight children born to the union of Greenie, Sr and Viola Bynum. As a young girl, she accepted Christ and was filled with the Holy Ghost while tarrying on the altar and seeking God the old time way at the Jones Avenue Church of God in Christ (now Cathedral of Faith COGIC) located at 591 Jones Avenue in Atlanta, under the leadership of the late Bishop George Briley. There she served faithfully in the choir, standing side by side with her sisters Bettye Robinson Phillips and Rutine Briley, who she loved so very dearly. With the inspiration and encouragement of Mr. and Mrs. Willis, she met and later married Tom Crum, Sr. who was then a widower with three young babies. Moving to Chicago, IL in 1959, she began a new life of love, marriage and motherhood, adding her church membership with her husband at Union Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, with Bishop R.L. Ford. She also served there in the choir. After a few years, together she and her husband joined Holy Temple Church of God in Christ (Greater Holy Temple) under the leadership of Bishop E. Lenox. It was there that she served in many capacities such as the Nurses Unit, Choir Member, Choir Directress, Choir President, Missionary Board, Hospitality Committee, and Church Cook. With her hands and a pure heart, she served the people of God. After the retirement of her husband, she wanted to return back to her hometown, Atlanta, GA. Moving back to Atlanta, where her heart was, she rejoined her faith family at Jones Avenue which is now Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ. At Cathedral she served on the Hospitality Committee, the Senior Choir and the Mother's Board. Loved by all that she came in contact with, reciprocating the love was EFFORTLESS. “Mom Crum” as she was affectionately called, was known for the song "If everybody was like Jesus, what a wonderful world this would be.” Singing was her passion and we loved to hear her do it. She would often testify on Sunday Nights, singing and playing her tambourine. She loved young people and encouraged others to give God their best.

Precious Memories LIFE IS MERELY A COMPILATION OF MEMORIES WE MAKE, LOVE WE SHARE AND LESSONS WE LEARN.

A Grandmother’s Love H E R S M I L E Though her smile is gone forever and her hand I can no longer touch, I still have so many memories that I will cherish so much. Tue, May 3, 2022 at 5:10 PM Her memory is now my keepsake which with I’ll never part. God has her in his keeping but I have her in my heart. My Dear lovely Grandma you will certainly be missed but our best memories together in my heart will always exist! Love, Your Granddaughter Tiya

Grandma, You have a catch the school bus on time. You and my grandfather were my best friends when I moved back to Aarh; When I wasn't at home, I was at yours, and you made sure I was comfortable at all times. You and granddaddy taught me how to cook and were right there when my dad let me drive his car the first time. You always looked great, and always made me feel loved. I hope you and granddaddy are up there happy for the rest of eternity. I love you forever! Your granddaughter, Sela

Grandma has been someone who has played a special part in our life. With treasured memories, we will always hold in our heart. You've watched us all grow from babies to adults. Your spirit will never leave us. Your Love and prayer will always guide us with you by our side. Rest on Grandma and take your rest! Love, Ayeesha!

We didn't know that evening that God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to now miss you, but you didn't go alone; for parts of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us with an abundance of memories of laughter, with love still being our guide; And even though we can't see you, We know you are always by our side, Our family chain is now broken and nothing will ever be the same but as God calls us one by one, our family chain will link again!! There's no amount of words that I'd be able to express how much you meant to me. Thank you for loving me from miles and miles away! Kiss Paw Paw for me! I know he is happy to see you! I'll always love you my beautiful sweet Grandma! Mauh!!!! Your loving Granddaughter, Krissy

Acknowledgements Thank You!

Perhaps you sent a lovely card, Or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a funeral spread. If so, we saw it there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, As any friend could say: Perhaps you were not there at all, Just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts, We thank you, so very much, whatever the part. Special thanks to Bishop Arthur & First Lady Sheila Mosley, The Cathedral of Faith COGIC Family and Mr. Leonard White for always ensuring that Mother Crum always looked like royalty.
