Details Regarding the Vacant Post of Content Creator

1. Headquarters, Barbados Defence Force (BDF) is inviting suitably qualified applicants for the post of Content Creator.

2. The appointment of Content Creator is a civilian post within the BDF. Among other qualities, operational security, information confidentiality, and trustworthiness must be enduring character traits that the Content Creator must consistently demonstrate.

3. Academic Qualifications. Applicants should possess:

a. A degree in Mass Communications, Marketing or Public Relations; or

b. An Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or any comparable and suitably aligned qualification or professional certification (Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Diploma, Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Digital Marketing Certificates or Accreditation in Public Relations (APR)); or

c. A Bachelor’s Degree, or an Associate Degree in a related field (Marketing, Digital Media, Communications or Journalism).

4. Experience. Applicants should have 1–5 years of professional experience in content creation, social media management, or digital marketing.

5. Other requirements. Other requirements for this position are as follows:

a. Three (3) – four (4) client/company testimonials;

b. Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Trello, video editing tools or similar applications;

c. Portfolio of work experience as a Content Creator (Social Media, Website publications); and

d. Be willing to undergo Integrity Testing as required.

6. Duties and Responsibilities. The successful applicant will report to the Staff Officer, Civil-Military Relations, Public Affairs and Media (G9), on all media-related matters. The list of duties, skills and abilities includes but is not confined to:

a. Create various types of digital media (videography, animations, graphics, photography) and other media with the relevant tone and style, adhering to the respective styles, guidelines and brand of the Barbados Defence Force;

b. Create content to improve and increase target audience awareness;

c. Employ digital marketing and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategy to optimise content;

d. Analyse online and conventional traffic of the content and relay conversions and bounce rates;

e. Create and distribute marketing copy to advertise the BDF’s scope, purpose and brand;

f. Collaborate with Units to establish campaign objectives, complete tasks, and identify and solve problems; and

g. Any other duties as detailed by G9

7. Salary. The salary of the Content Creator is Z20 – Z18, i.e., $44,155.79$46,379.59 per annum.

8. Appointment. The duration of the appointment is two (2) years in the first instance and is subject to termination by at least four (4) weeks’ notice on either side.

9. Leave. Leave is granted as follows:

a. Vacation Leave. The Content Creator is entitled to thirty (30) days’ vacation leave per annum

b. Sick Leave. Fourteen (14) days of sick leave are granted per year

8. Method of Selection. Applicants will be expected to attend an interview with a panel as selected by HQ BDF. Additionally, applicants must meet the BDF’s security vetting clearance requirements Interested persons are invited to submit a letter of application addressed to: Chief of Staff, Barbados Defence Force, St Ann’s Fort, Garrison, St. Michael, along with a Curriculum Vitae, copies of qualifications, three (3) passport-sized photographs, two (2) testimonials and a Police Certificate of Character no later than 17 April 2026.

9. Assessment. Applicants will be assessed on the following:

a. Relevant qualifications and professional training;

b. Experience;

c. Performance at interview;

d. Integrity testing; and

e. General suitability.
