BENEDICTION

Based on Denton’s Farewell and Challenge to the BWA There comes a time in a person’s life when one, like Denton, must bid farewell to those whom he has loved and with whom he has worked. The Christian life is a call to action. May we follow the encouragement and challenge Denton offered us as Paul offered to Timothy: Preach the Word! Teach with patience! Be urgent!

CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF REV. DR. DENTON LOTZ January 18, 1939 – April 23, 2019

Be steady! Convince! Endure suffering! Rebuke! Do the work of an evangelist! Exhort! Fulfill your ministry! Support, love, and encourage one another. In living this call, there is not always uniformity of thought or action, yet we must remain centered on Christ. We must ask and grant forgiveness as we fulfill our ministry together. Keeping a large family together is not easy. Our unity will have great consequences in leading men and women to faith in Christ. May the Christ of all joy continue to unite us together into that fellowship of love for which He prayed! Now, with the Apostle Paul, Denton can say, “The time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

ORDER OF WORSHIP

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

THE APOSTLES’ CREED

Columbia Baptist Church Reflection……………………………………...........……….……....…Jim Baucom

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

Musical Reflection……………………………………...........……….....................................…Thomas Oggier

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
