MENTORING PROGRAM
BWIM’s Mentoring Program will soon begin its third cohort sponsored by the Lilly Endowment Thriving in Ministry Grant. 20 mentees and 5 mentors will gather late July 2022 at the St. Francis Springs Prayer Center in Stoneville, NC to begin their 2-year participation. Our goal is to work toward sustainability of this program, so we can continue offering resources and support to Baptist women entering new ministry roles.
MINISTRY SEARCH RESOURCES
In support of women candidates in ministry searches, BWIM hosted a series of three Zoom conversations to discuss the specific challenges women face as they navigate ministry searches. 38 women and men participated in the Zoom conversations. Additionally, Executive Director, Meredith Stone, has created a presentation for search committees to discuss how patriarchy and sexism have impacted their candidates and process, and to consider potential ways of creating an equitable search process for women candidates. If you know of a search committee that would benefit from this work, please help BWIM connect with them by emailing meredithstone@bwim.info. BWIM also continues to support women candidates as they navigate ministry searches.
BWIM BOOK CLUB
In 2021, BWIM began hosting 1-hour Book Club meetings on Zoom as a new way to connect and network with our supporters, friends, and hopefully introduce new friends and supporters to BWIM. Our most recent Book Club was a 3-week discussion on Zoom about Candice Marie Benbow’s, Red Lip Theology, a book that addresses faith from a Womanist perspective. Book Club conversations have helped us to reach and connect with a diverse group of women from across the US and UK.
BNG PARTNERSHIP
BWIM is partnering with Baptist News Global (BNG) to celebrate and promote women’s voices in Baptist media. As a result of the first three months of the partnership, over a dozen women wrote articles published by BNG! If you know of a woman who might be interested in writing for BNG, contact Laura Ellis, lauraellis@bwim.info.
