Game on, Team Captain!
Thank you for your commitment to Bounce Back from Cancer™ . Your mission: rally your squad to dribble for dollars, funding crucial research at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. This playbook has all the steps you need to lead your team to victory.
Building a strong Bounce Back from Cancer™ team is about more than just reaching a fundraising goal. It’s about creating a supportive community united in the fight against cancer. Encourage open communication, celebrate each other’s efforts and keep the focus on the meaningful impact your team is making.
Remember, your “why” is the driving force behind your team’s efforts. Keep it at the forefront throughout your journey, from recruitment to fundraising to crossing the finish line. Together, we can create a world where everyone bounces back from cancer stronger than ever!
Step 1: Find Your Why
• Reflect on your personal connection to the cause
• Identify how cancer has impacted your life or community
• Clarify your motivation for participating in this event
• Consider how you’ll share your “why” to inspire team members and donors
Step
2: Register & Set up Your Team Page
• Choose your preferred course
• The Full Court Challenge | 14.2 miles
• The Half Court | 6 miles
• The Final Stretch | 2 miles
• Pick a team name and register: Bounce Back from Cancer™ Team Registration
• Set a personal fundraising goal (aim for at least $2,500)
• Make the first contribution to your team page to show commitment
Step 3: Build the Best Team!
• Create a compelling team story. Share your personal connection to the cause and highlight the impact of cancer research on our community with stats/videos.
• Begin assembling your team. It’s best to reach out to all of your contacts, not just a select few – you’ll be surprised by who says “yes!”
• Use multiple forms of communication to reach out and inspire others to join your team by sharing your “why”
• Share your team page link through email and social media

Step 4: Raise the $ and the Hype
• Encourage your squad to run a full-court press on social media and/or create their individual fundraising pages to help reach your goal
• Follow up with contacts that didn’t join the team or others you haven’t yet reached out to for donations
• Utilize the sample email and social posts provided in this packet to let people know the impact that research at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute makes in the community
• Plan some training sessions and/or team building activities to get your team psyched for event!
• Design team T-shirts or accessories and/or create a team hashtag for social media posts
Step 5: Final Push Communications
Week of Event:
• Remind everyone that Bounce Back from Cancer™ is on Saturday, March 15
• Share final update on your fundraising status via email and social media
• Invite supporters to donate if they can’t join on event day
• Ensure all team members have received event day logistics (where to meet, time, etc.)
• Host a final team meeting to boost morale and review last minute details!
Event Day: March 15, 2025
• Meet your team at the designated starting point, decked out in your team swag!
• Participate in the opening ceremony
• Complete your chosen challenge route, supporting each other along the way
• Celebrate at the Kaseya Center afterwards!
Post Event:
• Thank your team members and donors
• Share your team’s accomplishments and photos on your page and social media
• Ask anyone who couldn’t participate to donate now – it’s not too late!
• Rest and get psyched for next year!

I am building a team for Bounce Back from Cancer™ with the goal of raising $XXXX, and I want YOU to be a part of it! This is our chance to make a significant impact in the fight against cancer. 100% of funds raised support lifesaving cancer research at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute.
As you may know (INSERT STORY/REASON THAT CANCER HAS IMPACTED YOUR LIFE AND YOU WANT TO GIVE BACK BY FUNDRAISING FOR THIS EVENT)
But this is more than just a fundraiser, it’s also an incredibly fun event! On March 15, 2025, we will meet up to dribble a basketball through the streets of Miami and celebrate at the Kaseya Center afterwards.
Our team will be completing the (Choose one of the following) Full Court Challenge, dribbling a basketball 14.2 miles from Miami Cancer Institute to the Kaseya Center –Half Court Challenge, dribbling a basketball 6 miles from Coconut Grove to the Kaseya Center – Final Stretch Challenge, dribbling a basketball 2 miles from The Underline’s Brickell Backyard to the Kaseya Center.
