Why Cypress College? A unique learning experience and environment! The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Program at Cypress College is fully accredited by a third-party industry accreditation organization, HVAC Excellence. The student participates in national, standardized employment ready testing that is recognized by major industry employers and local unions.
Do I need a high school diploma? No, but it is recommended.
Can I work while attending school?
Yes. The program is designed to be conducted in a weekly, two-day format or a night time schedule. Many contractors send their employees to school two days a week which allows them to still work a fulltime schedule. Also, local contractors and manufacturers look to Cypress College students for part-time work.
Do I have to supply my own uniform and tools?
No. The Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Program is set up for multiple pathways into the industry. Not all students pursue field technician careers. Cypress College supplies all the equipment and tools for the laboratory classroom environment. While a uniform is not required, a dress code is enforced in the laboratory classroom for safety.
