The UK’s largest and leading schoolwear supplier.

We’re the largest schoolwear supplier in the UK. We’re passionate about making every student look and feel great by producing sustainable, affordable and desirable schoolwear of the highest quality and supporting retailers with the best industry-leading service.

7

Schoolwear. We get it.

Setting new standards for sustainability, service and support. We’ve been at the forefront of our industry for quite some time so there isn’t much we don’t know about schoolwear. Our mission is to revolutionise the market by continually setting new standards for sustainability, service and support to improve the way we operate and deliver for all our customers.

8

Giving every child a chance to shine.

When we say we get schoolwear, we really mean it. Schoolwear doesn’t just define a school’s identity, it also defines the identity of every student who wears it. We believe schoolwear has the power to make a real difference in people’s lives, which is why we’re driven by our vision of giving every child a chance to shine. Creating comfortable, durable and sustainable schoolwear that enables all students to look and feel great.

We believe schoolwear has the power to make a real difference in people’s lives. 9

Investing in products, service and our planet. As the largest schoolwear supplier in the UK and still growing, we have a relentless desire to invest in all the things that matter most to our customers - the quality of our products, the calibre of our service and above all, doing the right thing for the planet. Our size means we’re uniquely positioned to think big and offer the very best solutions to our customers on product, service and sustainability. But we’ll never be too big to care and we proudly support independent retailers of all sizes. 10

Employing over 300 people across three sites in Trowbridge, Altrincham and Seaham, the company has achieved significant growth over the years, and in October 2021, acquired backing from Private Equity Investors, CBPE. The business is in a strong financial position and continues to invest heavily in stock, new product development, marketing and design, new technology and people, ensuring that we not only continue to supply our customers with innovative quality products and excellent service both now and in the future, but we centre our approach around making the supply of schoolwear as easy as possible.

What makes us tick. Service

Providing industry-leading service since 1851.

Sustainability

Building a greener, fairer future for everyone.

Support

Helping our customers every step of the way.

11

Proud of our history, passionate about the future. The Banner story goes all the way back to 1851 when Beau Brummel, our oldest wholesale brand, started supplying the finest bespoke uniforms to some of the most prestigious schools in the UK. This heritage is part of our DNA and although our business has changed a lot in that time, our focus remains exactly the same now as it was then - to be the leader in schoolwear across products and service. The only thing that’s changed is we now prioritise doing the right thing for the planet above everything else.

What we do.

15

16

Doing things differently.

The know-how, resources, investment and scale to deliver on the things that really matter. Schools come in all shapes and sizes, which is why we’ve developed a product range that meets every requirement. Our size and experience means we have the know-how, resources, investment and scale to deliver on the things that really matter to our customers. And we do it in the most sustainable and responsible way possible.

17

We create sustainable products that solve problems. Research & Inclusion.

We develop our ranges in close collaboration with retailers, schools, parents and students. Our design process starts with student focus groups and interactive workshops to understand their needs and we have previously worked with organisations like Mermaids UK on previous research projects to ensure our products are as inclusive as possible regardless of age, gender and size. We greatly recognise the necessity and demand for sustainable schoolwear and sportswear, which is why our focus remains on this exciting area of development.

18

Product Design.

We have an in-house team of expert product designers that work on every aspect of our ranges, from initial concept through to design and delivery. Our aim is to provide an inclusive and diverse range of sustainable schoolwear, making sure all our garments are available in sizes perfect for younger students too. We now consciously select materials that suit low washing temperatures to minimise energy consumption and are reducing our use of plastic through our revised eco product packaging initiative.

19

Testing. We’ve taken a leading stance on testing our products. Part of our design process involves testing the durability of our products to ensure they’re fit for purpose. We routinely test our products with independent testing houses and also compare our test results with competitors to ensure we remain the industry leaders in this area.

20

Manufacturing.

We’re in complete control of every process - from pattern development, fabric and colour selection and supplier production right through to final sign-off. This means we can easily implement new ways of improving our products and operations, as well as finding better solutions to reduce our environmental and social impact.

Schoolwear students love.

21

Personalisation.

We’ve invested in new embroidery machinery so we can embroider more than...

40,000 garments per week, including

10,000 in-house.

As a result, we’re able to offer our customers the biggest range of personalised products across the entire industry, complementing our huge range of stock-supported lines.

22

Marketing.

We pride ourselves on offering the best marketing support in the schoolwear industry. Offered free to all customers, our dedicated inhouse marketing team includes talented designers, photographers and copywriters to help customers showcase our ranges to schools, parents and students in the most engaging and exciting ways. 23

Value for money. Parents want to know their children’s uniform and sportswear will last until they grow out of it, providing exceptional value for money. Our products are independently tested on their durability, with ranges at a price point for every budget to give schools unrivalled choice to select the right products for their parents and pupils.

24

A total back-to-school solution.

We’re proud to offer the biggest and broadest range of schoolwear and sportswear in the market, available to order from stock all year round for next-day delivery. From stock-supported essentials to bespoke or made-to-order products, our carefully selected ranges have something for everyone at a price that suits them.

Sustainable sportswear that performs.

Fastest growing school sportswear brand in the UK. In 2015, our product development team recognised that school sportswear needed to change. Students wanted performance fabrics and modern designs, the kind of garments they’d look and feel great wearing outside of school. We worked with schools and students to design the most contemporary and high-performing sportswear range in the market with one aim - to inspire students of any age, gender and body type to get involved in school sports with confidence. Today, our APTUS sportswear range is the fastest growing school sportswear brand in the UK, helping millions of children to give their best in games and PE. Not only that, it’s transitioned to more sustainable fabrics too - reflecting our dedication to doing the right thing for the planet and future generations. 51

Head to toe in eco by 2025.

75% of our product offering is now eco and by 2025 we aim to transition to 100%. Our sustainability journey began in 2019 when we set about embracing our responsibility to do the right thing for our planet and the future. We decided to tranform our approach to sustainability and put these challenges right at the heart of our business, starting with our products.

Making our products eco.

Since our journey began, we’ve had a clear vision. We want every garment we produce to make a positive impact on our planet, the people we work with and the students who ultimately wear our products every day.

The biggest eco range in the industry. Fast forward to today and we’re now proud to offer our customers the biggest and broadest range of schoolwear and sportswear that’s responsibly sourced and manufactured with sustainable materials.

69

The biggest eco range in the industry. Blazers & jackets.

The full Signature, Ziggy and Designer ranges have now transitioned to eco and are made from 100% recycled polyester (PET) certified to Gold Standard for all main outer fabric and internal linings. The sustainable fabric for our blazers and jackets contains up to 48 recycled plastic bottles.

Blouses, shirts and t-shirts.

70

Our blouse and shirt products have all transitioned to eco with updated sustainable packaging. Our Champion Tee is made from 100% cotton and is OEKOTEX Standard 100 certified, which means that every component of the garment has been tested for harmful substances.

Trousers.

Our boys trousers have also made the transition over to eco, created from 65% recycled polyester and 35% biodegradable viscose main fabric. Up to 11 plastic bottles are recycled to produce to polyester for each of these styles.

Skirts.

100% of the polyester used in the girls trouser and skirt styles that have transitioned to eco is produced from recycled bottles. That’s up to 17 recycled bottles per product. We’ve also added waist-adjusters into all our girls’ skirts for our eco transition.

Sweats, jog pant and polo.

The Classic range of sweatshirts, jog pant and polo have all transitioned to eco. The Classic Polo fabric is produced from up to 15 recycled plastic bottles and all our Classic Sweat product is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.

71

Leading the way with sustainability. A framework for change.

We’re continually working to improve all aspects of our environmental and social responsibility, minimising the impacts of our operations on the planet, while at the same time optimising the benefits of what we do for our people and the people we work with. It’s why we’re recognised as the schoolwear supplier that’s leading the way in sustainability.

72

Our six sustainability pillars.

We want every product that we produce to make a positive impact on our planet, the people we work with and the students who ultimately wear our garments every day. To help us achieve this, we’ve developed a very clear and holistic sustainability strategy built on six key pillars.

Supply Chain

Environment

Product

Community

Customer

People

We ensure the overseas supplier factories producing our brochure stock are all Sedex members and audited to ensure compliance with Sedex 4 Pillar / SMETA Audits, which includes extended business ethics and environmental measures.

We’re giving back to local community projects and charities with fundraising and our Gift of Time volunteering programme for employees.

We’re focused on reducing our environmental footprint and maintaining our carbon-neutral status. We’re also working with our supplier factories to reduce water consumption, waste and conserve energy.

We actively engage with our customers to get their views on eco issues, as well as record and act on their feedback to shape our future strategy and green initiatives. We’re also supporting their sustainability journey and delivering a faultless service.

We design and source the best products sustainably and have launched a full range of innovative eco products made from recycled polyester and biodegradable viscose.

We ensure our employees’ voices are heard through an annual engagement survey and “pulse” surveys to ensure they feel “safe, supported and understood” and also through a structured programme of well-being, mental health support and engagement activities.

73

74

Reducing environmental impact.

Together for our planet. In our business, the planet is a key stakeholder, just like the children who wear our schoolwear and the communities we serve. This means we embrace our responsibility to put back into nature what we take out of it, striving to minimise the environmental impact of our operations in every way we can. The environment is a huge part of our sustainability strategy. And while we’ve achieved a lot so far, we intend to go bigger, better and bolder with our environmental commitments, investing in projects that reduce our emissions and reduce or eliminate any detrimental impact on biodiversity. 75

77

Reducing environmental impact. What we’re striving for.

78

1.

Reduce our Scope 1 and 2+ emissions by focussing on our emissions hotspots - Energy and Travel - and implementing our comprehensive reduction plan.

2.

Re-evaluate the financial viability of installing a large solar PV system on the Canal Road warehouse roof in Trowbridge to provide 10% annual reductions in our emissions.

3.

Revisit the commercial viability for electric vehicles that operate out of our Group DCs as part of our aim to achieve a 100% electric company vehicle fleet.

4.

Prioritise the reduction of full Scope 3 emissions in our value chain and commit to including Scope 3 for our supply chain in our 2022 carbon footprint profile.

5.

Work closely with our supply chain partners to reduce their environmental footprint and support them on their carbon-neutral journey.

6.

Keep working to find a sustainable and commercial solution to recycle/re-purpose textiles at end of life and get used surplus textiles back into the supply chain.

7.

Develop a transformational packaging strategy that delivers a net positive impact on the environment and reduces our plastic footprint by 50% by 2025, as well as 100% of our plastic and carbon packaging being sourced from recycled materials, not virgin sources.

8.

Improve waste management and better recycling across all sites through closer monitoring of waste collections, better education on categories of waste and wider employee engagement through our “Waste Nothing” campaigns.

9.

Keep collaborating and researching to ensure the fabrics we source for our garments come from renewable sources.

79

80

Setting the standard in ethical sourcing.

Doing the right thing.

We’re confident we’ve developed the most sustainable and ethical supply chain in our industry, backed up by strong independent accreditations. Since 2006, we’ve been a member of Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange), one of the world’s leading ethical trade service providers, as part of our commitment to improving the working conditions in global supply chains. Our work so far has resulted in us becoming the first UK schoolwear supplier to set Sedex 4-Pillar as the minimum audit standard for all our suppliers to comply with. This means all our suppliers are independently assessed to the highest requirements in crucial areas such as fair pay, labour standards, health & safety, business ethics and environmental impact.

81

Setting the standard in ethical sourcing. What we’ve achieved. We belive we’re the

83

Setting the standard in ethical sourcing. What we’re striving for.

84

1.

Achieve greater transparency of the environmental impacts of our supply chain by supporting our suppliers to join Sedex once the Higg Index has been integrated.

2.

Commit to measuring our full Scope 3 carbon footprint, which will involve collating data from all our suppliers in 2022.

3.

Reduce emissions and pollution by switching to 100% green energy across our factories and incorporating new targets and supplier standards as part of their reduction plans in Q3 2022.

4.

Better understand our raw materials footprint with full traceability of our end-to-end sourcing operations, including the sourcing of yarn, trims from the mills and dye houses.

5.

Reduce plastic packaging and remove singleuse plastic from our global supply chain, working with academic experts at Heriot Watt university to accelerate this journey.

6.

Expand our overseas supply base by opening up the tendering process to more factories and engaging with new ones that meet our new standards.

7.

Implement secondary sourcing on more products to reduce risk and continue to manage fabric supply and quality for our customers closely.

8.

Mitigate the impact of the covid pandemic on deliveries by pulling our buying plans forward for 2022 to bring products in earlier from all our suppliers.

9.

Maintain the same level of accountability in terms of ethical and environmental standards for our retail supply chain.

10.

Ensure all factories complete a Sedex selfassessment questionnaire to help us manage our supply chain and mitigate social and environmental risks, as well as carry out our own inspections as soon as it’s safe to do so.

85

86

Supporting our communities & charities.

Making a positive difference. We’re setting new standards for supporting the communities we work in around the globe. A number of our supplier factories have implemented community support programmes focused on doing good in the localities where they’re based, such as providing safe drinking water and essential basic necessities that directly benefit their workers and families in a tangible way.

Giving back where it matters. Through our Gift of Time initiative, our workplace colleagues are highly engaged in fundraising and giving back to support local communities here in the UK too, genuinely seeking to provide help where and when it’s needed most. Together, we want to become a force for good and make a real difference in people’s lives.

87

Supporting our communities & charities.

88

What we’re striving for. 1.

Augment our social responsibility focus across the whole of the Banner Group.

2.

Ensure that our Gift of Time programme is 100% inclusive and supports all minority groups as well as hardship and poverty alleviation.

3.

Widen engagement and drive participation in the Gift of Time programme.

4.

Regularly share successes and examples of colleagues’ volunteering experiences to encourage, inspire and improve participation.

5.

Ensure all charity and community activities are recorded and tracked within our internal reporting system so that we can accurately measure our social impact.
