Mayor proposes bottle tax hike for school repairs fund BY JACQUELINE WATTS

Don’t count on it. The polls had barely closed last week when Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, elected with 84 percent of the vote, proposed raising the container tax from two cents to a nickel, with the proceeds going to support a fund for school construction and repair that had been authorized by a charter amendment that passed with 87 percent. Dunbar trounces Southside, 50-6, in first round of playoffs BY JASON BUTT SPORTS@BALTIMOREGUIDE.COM Dunbar completed step one in defending its state championship by defeating the Southside Academy Jaguars 50-6 last Saturday. For the Poets, it was easy sledding throughout, even though the offense got off to a slow start. Dunbar turned the ball over

twice in the first quarter, but led 8-0 thanks to a 12-yard touchdown run from JaQuan Holt and Coleman Blackston’s 2-point conversion. But in the second quarter, the offense settled down and began putting points on the scoreboard.
