A LETTER OF THANKS. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the participants of the 200 Club who are on my collection list. It is a great help that they pay me in advance to save me having to venture out in the cold winter months. Also can I thank everyone for their continuing support to the “Used Stamps” box on the shelf at the Post Office counter. The stamps now go to help my Church in Tayport.

And last but not least, can I thank everyone who has bought a Quiz Sheet from me this past year, you are all so good to put up with me trying to boost funds for different organisations. You have no idea how much it helps, so sincere thanks to everyone. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.....Val Phillips.

FROM COLIN, THE NEW EDITOR. As 2018 draws to a close I have found myself in charge of putting together the village magazine. It is a great asset to the village and the larger community with the information it has provided over the years it has been going. In this age of online content of Facebook, Twitter and all the other forms of communication that surround us it is good to be able to pick up the magazine flick through the pages and find the local information or local tradesman to do the job you have been meaning to get done for ages or perhaps find an article that captures your imagination. So as the new editor I am asking for your help as the community. Do you have anything you want to see in the magazine? Are there any budding writers who would like to see their work in print? Is there an event or cause you would like other local people to read about is there information you would like to be included. A short story a

memory of times past we would like to hear from you. To all the kind people who have contributed to the magazine in the past we would like to hear from you again can you give us more articles to add. To our younger readers we would like to hear from you and we hope you will send something in I would like to start a Children’s page but to do this we need writing and drawings from yourselves to be able to do this We would like to produce six copies throughout the year starting in February then April, June, August, October and December. But it will only be possible with your help and participation in making it come together for everyone to enjoy. Please try and find the time to let us know your thoughts and comments perhaps even pen and article for us to use in an edition. We wish you all a Happy Christmas and a good New Year.

POINTS FROM THE SECRETARY’S EMAIL - SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER

SUE SMITH

President Ann Falconer welcomed members and our guests and Tellers from Cults and District SWI to our Business Meeting on Thursday, 1st November, 2018. Whilst two of our guests, counted votes for the new Committee, Sheena and Aileen provided entertainment. Aileen recited a couple of rather humorous poems, and the ladies discussed and showed us a number of their hand sewn quilts, and also some material folded pieces, all beautiful. We are hoping that they will return at some time to give a wee demonstration. Ann then announced the winners of the annual trophies:-

Following the retrial of President, Ann Falconer and Treasurer, Evelyn Erskine, the new Committee Members were announced as President, Mary Reilly, Committee, Katriona Addison, Gina Baird, Julie Campbell, Jill Dhanjal, Jan Redpath, Sandy Rolfe, Winnie Whyte and Penny Wiles. FIFE COUNCIL – WINTER CAMPAIGN

Be prepared by planning ahead and staying informed Before severe weather hits, there’s three simple ways for you to get the information you need: Go Online - www.fifedirect.org.uk/winter - all the news and information you’ll need is online – register for alerts at www.fifedirect.org.uk/alerts  

Follow us on facebook.com/fifecouncil and twitter.com/fifecouncil Tune in to Kingdom FM, Forth One and Tay FM and

If you need to get in touch with the council in an emergency, call on 03451 55 00 11 (faults and repairs) and 03451 55 00 99 (out of hours). The council has a comprehensive plan for the winter. They work round the clock, 7 days a week including during public holidays and do all we can to keep services running whatever the weather. Grit Bins have now been removed from several locations throughout the village. A meeting was held with a resident and a council officer in David Wilson Park to request a replacement there. Please let us know if the removal of a grit bin is causing you concern or hardship so that we can make sure voices are heard loud and clear. Fife has the highest number of grit bins of any local authority in excess of 4000 which is an unsustainable number to maintain. Brown Bins The bin collection days will change for most householders in East Fife w/c 18 February 2019. In addition, we are asking residents to change the materials they put in in the green (plastics and cans) and grey (paper and cardboard) bins: • Polystyrene, plastic bags & films and plastic wrappers will not be able to go into the green bin, but should go into the blue bin (landfill) • Drinks and food cartons will be recycled in the green bin (NOT the grey bin) There will be a full information soon. Brown bins will only be collected 4 weekly during winter months.     

21.12.18 18.01.19 15.02.19 15.03.19 29.03.19
