New Milton Remembrance Parade and Service

It was an honour to attend the Remembrance Day service in New Milton last Sunday. Our Head Prefects laid a wreath at the war memorial and were joined by other pupils and staff. They then moved to the New Milton Memorial Centre for a service of Remembrance.

Our Head Boy, Tom Wiggett, delivered a Bible reading from John 15 talking about the power of love, and there being none greater than sacrificing your life for others, whilst our Head Girl, Nina Mathew, read Kipling's Recessional - which reminds us that Empires and power come and go, and we should rely on God's love and mercy above all things. They were joined on stage by our choir.

Remembrance Service

On Tuesday, our whole school came together for a poignant Remembrance Service. It was a meaningful opportunity for pupils and staff to pause, reflect, and honour those who gave so much. We were privileged to welcome Sergeant Justin Scholes MBE, Royal Air Force, as our guest speaker. Well done to all our readers: Elizabeth, Ethan, James (all Year 5) Nuala, Sirena (both Year 8) and our Head Prefects, Aurelia, Nina, Ollie and Tom.

A special mention to Alice Dance (Year 9), who played The Last Post so beautifully, creating a moment of deep respect and remembrance. These services are so important - they teach the importance of reflection, gratitude, and understanding history.

“It was a privilege to share this occasion with the staff, governors, parents, and importantly the young people of Ballard School. I was so so impressed by how smart they looked; everyone was wearing a poppy! But also, how impeccably well behaved, sitting still and quiet. A special mention to the readers and trumpeter. They were all so brave and captured the mood beautifully!! You must be rightly proud of what Ballard School stands for, and judging by the recent awards and accolades, this has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for the opportunity to meet with you all.” Sergeant Justin Scholes MBE, Royal Air Force.

Honouring Remembrance Through Art

Pupils (Year 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9) created a selection of individual and beautiful poppies in their Art and Textiles lessons, whilst learning about Remembrance and the significance of poppies.

The poppies were used in our Remembrance Day instillation in our Main Reception lobby.

We also love this PE Poppy that our youngest children in Nursery & KG made and the Years 1&2 displays.

Congratulations to...

...Theo (Year 4), who created this incredible video as part of his research into WW2 for our Year 4 topic. Well done, Theo
