EveryLearner reachingtheir God-given potential

Welcome

Our College is unashamedly Christian and seeks to share the love of Christ and the message of the Gospel to all of our students from Foundation/Prep to Year 12. A biblical worldview undergirds the curriculum across the College and is supported by a Christian studies subject at each year level. The College’s vision is ‘Every learner reaching their God-given potential’; a biblical worldview which is reflected in the College’s Values of Commitment, Excellence, Respect, Unity, Compassion and Honesty.

The College structure comprises two schools, primary and secondary. Each are led by a Head of School, responsible for the day to day running of their respective school.

The College is situated on a single five-hectare campus in the Ballarat suburb of Sebastopol. The extensive property provides ample room for the current enrolment, with room for future expansion. The College has a range of facilities, including a Multi-Purpose Centre, Trade Training Centre, and primary & secondary precincts.

We welcome the opportunity to partner with parents in the education of your children. God has created each individual child with their own unique characteristics, potential and purpose. We believe it is the College’s role to help each student realise their potential and count it a privilege to work together with parents in assisting each child through their years of formal schooling.

For more information regarding enrolment, please go to our website or contact the College Registrar via email registrar@ balcc.vic.edu.au to arrange a tour of the College.

Christian Education is seeing the world from God’s point of view

The Bible is central to our lives at the College and teachers teach from a biblical perspective. Students are taught to measure all knowledge against the truth of God’s Word. Our College provides an education where the home, the church and the school speak with a unified voice in education and life. Students are secure; not confused by the presentation of competing worldviews or diverse moral standards.

Ballarat Christian College is a Co-Educational College in the Evangelical Protestant tradition, catering for students from Foundation/Prep to Year 12. Ballarat Christian College provides education for children in a safe and nurturing Christian environment, where Christian values and teachings are lived out daily in the positive experiences and relationships which develop at the College.

All of our subjects are taught from a Christian worldview, which is to say that we don’t just think about God during our ‘Religious Education’ classes - we call them ‘Christian Living’ lessons.

Every teacher is continuously building into their program moments where students are encouraged to think through the implications of whatever they are studying in terms of their relationships with God, other people, the world around them, and themselves.

At Ballarat Christian College we understand that God is relevant to every academic discipline, because He is the Creator and Lord of all things.

Ballarat Christian College exists to provide Christian education which helps each student find the will of God for his or her life, and to provide the human and practical resources, the environment, the encouragement, and the opportunities to develop those gifts and talents; to the end that each student will respond to and fulfil the call of God in his or her life.

Ballarat Christian College is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. Wherever it is at risk, child safety will be the primary focus of our care and decision making. Ballarat Christian College has zero tolerance for child abuse and neglect

Our rationale is that all students are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26) and are therefore valued by God. Thus, they should be valued highly by staff, their peers, visitors to the College, and family members. All children, regardless of their gender, race, religious beliefs, age, disability, sexual orientation, or family or social background have equal rights to protection from abuse.

The College is committed to promoting and protecting the safety and best interests of all students, actively working to empower them, and allowing them to feel and be safe at all times.

Ballarat Christian College recognises that children have the right to feel safe at all times. It is the responsibility of each parent, school and the community as a whole to keep all children of all racial, religious and cultural backgrounds safe and to provide them with a safe and caring environment.

With this in mind the College has a Student Wellbeing Team that offers a counselling service with a high level of confidentially to all students. This enables students to discuss their concerns and issues that may be affecting their studies, personal lives, spiritual growth, and goals. In addition to counselling, there is also a wide network of support services available for students, including academic support, pastoral care and spiritual guidance.

The Student Wellbeing Team is well placed to make informed and appropriate referrals to local health care and other services as the need arises, and are often the first ‘port of call’ when students have concerns. Our aim is to ensure that we care for each person as an individual, and for the community of learners as a whole.

Your Child’s safety comes first

A seamless education

Foundation/Prep to Year 12

Ballarat Christian College provides a primary and secondary campus located across five beautiful hectares of land. Each precinct is focused on the individual learning and developmental needs of the students enrolled.

The educational programs at the College allow students to enjoy an atmosphere of faith, learning and teaching from a biblical worldview and assists our students to develop a genuine sense of confidence and self-worth.

Our Primary School

Housed predominately in its own precinct, the Primary School also has access to facilities across the larger College campus. We provide safe, stimulating learning spaces and an inclusive environment within our classrooms, as well as both outdoor and undercover play areas. Student engagement together with positive and co-operative indoor & outdoor behaviours are prioritised.

We offer a seamless education from Foundation/Prep to Year 12, allowing Upper Primary students to move confidently to their secondary year levels and then on to their chosen career pathways.

Our Secondary School

Secondary students are provided with an educational setting that allows them to grow in their personal and intellectual development. At this time in their lives students have a great desire for identity and independence, and the necessary support is given to them as they progress through their secondary years.

Students are guided along a path to self-confidence that allows them to develop personal value systems, by which they may become thoughtful members of local communities and the world at large.

The senior classes of our secondary school provide a strong focus on preparing our students for life beyond their secondary schooling. This varies for each student; with some aspiring towards university and tertiary studies, while some aim for apprenticeships, traineeships, or direct employment options.

We provide pathway planning for each student incorporating VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education), VCE VM (Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major), and VET (Vocational Education and Training) options.

The College’s Trade Training Centre provides an additional resource in preparing students for industry.

Our Campus

We are an established and active educational provider, and we are constantly developing and improving our facilities.

We offer primary and secondary precincts, Multi-Purpose Centre (Gym), Trade Training Centre, Science, Arts & Technology areas, Learning Enhancement Centre, sports grounds and playing areas.

The College’s commitment to good stewardship, an important aspect of our Christian duty, has resulted in various programs, structures and buildings which are environmentally responsible. With assistance from both the Australian and Victorian governments, we are building a practical, yet attractive campus to further assist in the education and nurture of the students in our care.

Our History

BalCC ‘Yesterday Until Today’, a digital flipbook that takes you on the journey of BalCC from commencement in 1985 until today.

We give thanks to God as the Creator, owner and sustainer of this Land. We honour the Indigenous People who have tended and cared for it.

We acknowledge that we meet on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung people. They are the first people to have lived in this region and the custodians of this area.

We pay our respects to their leaders past & present and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who are present.

We ask Jesus’ blessing on all who continue to work for the healing and restoration of this Land and our Communities across Australia.
