Head of Athena facing left, wearing a crested Attic helmet decorated with a griffin, a monogram behind neck-guard, rev YEΛHTΩN (in exergue), lion walking right, Φ above, 7.77g., 3h (Williams 264 (O.152/R.203); SNG ANS 1292 (this reverse die); SNG Lloyd 520; HN Italy 1284). AG002 Sicily, Akragas (c. 495-480 B.C.), Silver Didrachm. AKPA / CAN, eagle standing left, rev crab, 8.82g., 12h (Jenkins, Gela, group III; SNG ANS 937). With an attractive iridescent cabinet tone, nearly extremely fine, a very good example. £1,750

AG003 Sicily, Gela (c. 420-405 B.C.), AE Trias. Bull standing right, an olive-branch above, three pellets in exergue, rev ΓEΛAΣ, head of young river-god Gelas facing right, 4.19g., 9h (Jenkins 523; cf. SNG ANS 119-22). Attractive dark green patina, about extremely fine. £350 A Naxos Litra of Very Attractive Archaic Style

AG004 Sicily, Naxos (c. 550-530 B.C.), Silver Litra. Archaic head of Dionysos facing left, wearing an ivywreath, rev NAX-ION (retrograde), bunch of grapes, 0.80g., 6h (Cahn 24 (V17/R23); BMC 5). Some light porosity and minor cleaning marks in obverse field, cabinet tone, very fine and rare, of very attractive archaic style and in a good state of preservation for this issue. £2,650

AG005 Sicily, Syracuse (Deinomenid Tyranny, 485-466 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm, struck c. 485-479 B.C. Charioteer, wearing a long chiton and holding a kentron in his right hand and the reins in his left, driving a slow quadriga right, Nike flies above to right to crown the horses, rev ΣVRAK-OΣI-O-N, head of Arethusa facing right, wearing a pearl-diadem and a necklace, four dolphins swimming clockwise around, 17.38g., 1h (Boehringer 110 (V50/R76); McClean 2604 (these dies)).
