The city is in the Mediterranean Region.

In 2014, the population of Kahramanmaraş is 1.089.038

Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi ( 1207-1273 )

He was a 13th-century poet ,jurist , Islamic Scholar , theologian and Sufi mystic. His poems have been widely translated into many of the world's languages and transposed into various formats. Rumi has been described as the "most popular poet" and the "best selling poet" in the United States

Farabi ( 870-950 ) He was a renowned philosopher and jurist who wrote in areas of political philosophy, metaphysics, ethics, and logic.

He was also a scientist , cosmologist and a music scholar.

İbn-i Sina He was a polymath and jurist who is regarded as one of the most significant thinkers and writers of the Islam.

His works are especially related to philosophy and medicine.

His most famous works are The Book of Healing and The Canon of Medicine.

Sabiha GÖKÇEN She was a Turkish aviator. She was the first Turkish female combat pilot, aged 23.
