report ESG

The world as we know it is constantly changing at a sometimes-scary pace. Healthcare crisis, the effects of the acceleration of climate change, energy crisis and its intensification due to geopolitical conflicts impose on societies and individuals the need to develop new strategies on environmental, social and corporate governance issues.
ESG is now indispensable within the context of sustainable and inclusive development.
The acronym ESG has been top news for a while now and is associated with a number of developments not only in business but also in the wider economy, touching on important social aspects.
Environment - Social - Governance are the pillars. More and more organizations are measuring, disclosing, and managing the risks and opportunities associated with sustainable development, raising the bar in terms of the sustainability strategies they adopt.
At our school, we believe it is our duty to adopt policies and ways to ensure that our footprint on the environment and people is constructive and effective.
Our priority and responsibility are to initiate tomorrow’s citizens into environmental sensitivity and a sense of social contribution.
The purpose of our organization, which you will find in the following pages, and we would like you to read carefully, is to help create a positive, lasting change in the world. We aspire to do this by accelerating sustainable and inclusive growth through direct and measurable impact on the environment and society.
ESG, therefore, is not just a way of measuring the sustainability of a business. It is a new philosophy that encourages the business community to take on its role as a catalyst for change, contributing not only to economic value but also to social and environmental well-being.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call for action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that by 2030 all people be enjoying peace and prosperity.
The Schools aim to raise the awareness of students, parents and employees on environmental issues through several actions Climate change requires coordinated actions and environmental awareness.

As part of the implementation of the organization’s strategy for sustainable development and environmental protection, the Schools have put into operation on the premises of the Kindergarten - Nursery - Elementary School and the Junior – Senior High School 2 photovoltaic net-metering stations with a total capacity of 168 kWp, which cover part of the annual energy target of the schools.
For these stations, Q CELLS and Trina panels were used, while the inverters are from KACO (Siemens).
A special mention should be made to the S-Dome support system of K2, as it is the first time that this innovative system has been used in Greece, both in terms of design and stability, as well as of the avoid of perforation of the roof slab.
The 2 systems save more than 230.000 kWh/year, reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, make the Schools highly energy self-sufficient, while at the same time contributing to sustainability and green growth.

Education nowadays plays a key role in tackling climate change, and it can contribute to changing the existing mindset of older people, but more importantly to lay a strong foundation in defining the way younger people think.

For this reason, environmental education of students, accurate information, awareness raising and responsibility through projects, actions and events are a priority of the schools.
Numerous educational activities and programs are carried out every year to cultivate the ecological sensitivity of students so that they can understand and reflect on the natural and social environment, and become competent citizens with critical thinking, participate in decision-making and take initiatives and actions.
For this reason, the Schools have been presented with the Green Flag of Ecological Schools for many years by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature.
