Unveiling our new look!

We’ve been busy here at Bailey Arts undergoing a transformation into what we are sure is the finest gallery in the North.

Not only have we revealed a stylish interior, with even more wall space to display the greatest selection of art in the region, we have also added a ‘viewing room’ (more details over the page), where you can pick up a signed Picasso. We have also recruited some friendly, highly knowledgable faces to help you make the perfect choice of art for your surroundings.

In the first of our quarterly Newsletters we will introduce you to some of our rising stars, give you advice on what could make a great investment choice, and offer you the opportunity to be the first to learn about our autumn/winter promotional campaign.

Inspired by a passion for collecting Fine Art, Bailey Arts now have the opportunity to sell such rare and iconic works from the Modern Masters of Art such as Picasso, Renoir, Miro, Chagall and Dali in our special ‘viewing room.’

SPOTLIGHT Rob Pointon

Northern Artist of the moment

Northern Art is the term given to the gritty 20th century industrial and urban landscapes particular to the North West of England, as personified by the works of L.S.Lowry.

This genre of art depicts the harsh realities as well as the lighter side of life of the people living and working in and around Manchester and its surrounding towns, both prewar and post-war, often featuring factories, chimneys, viaducts, canals and terraces.

There is now a new generation of modern day Northern artists creating new and vibrant paintings whilst preserving this artistic culture.

Rob Pointon is an acclaimed artist, born in Staffordshire and proud of his roots, unsurprisingly, the industries and their legacy within that region feature frequently in his works.

In a similar way to the Northern Artists painting reflecting their surroundings, Rob Pointon has been greatly inspired by the beauty of the UK’s vast network of inland waterways, and embarked on a year- long painting project touring the canal network on a narrowboat.

Rob’s work is all done on location which brings an energy and vibrancy to the atmosphere of the paintings, truly reflecting the experience and the scene depicted. ‘’An understanding of drawing can be seen at the core of Rob’s works, although now working predominantly in oils and working en plein air. The great distinguishing characteristic is his use of a wide-angle perspective – at times as far as 360 degrees – which enables him to encompass a phenomenal sense of the world around him within a single canvas.”

John Afflick: John Afflick traditionally produces fascinating and alluring figurative art often with a humorous and underlying narrative - although his most recent collection entitled ‘Reflections’ is made specifically for a wider audience. It introduces famous faces from the worlds of sport and popular culture who are idolised, loved and respected by all ages.
