BAHATI COLLECTIVE
materials
Thankfully, sustainability and the thoughtful use of materials looks to be a focus and the future benchmark for the industry. This welcome mindset has brought about huge advancements in recycled materials and their use. Fabrics using recycled materials, quartz composites, poured stone finishes and innovative fibre glass use have become the norm rather than an exception and are the preferred choice. Natural stone and marble are not renewable and are both labour and infrastructure hungry. We've embraced composites and manufactured stone that come in numerous colours and texture finishes, are resistant to heat and scratches and are engineered to last a lifetime.
durability
Our furniture is made with high density, compostie foam and framing is constructed from quality, local woods. Our upholstery fabrics, leathers and exotic skins are all selected with the customer and end use in mind, so they are suitable for corporate, hospitality and residential use. Most are certified contract grade. We have in our selection plains, fancies (such as our cut-pile jacquard velvets and silk screened cotton linens), top grain leathers and speciality skins such as ostrich and Nguni cow hides.
Not only are our fabrics beautiful, a lot of them feature practical finishes that offer protection against stains, water, oil and are anti-microbial and fire retardant. Which means a longer life for your furniture, and less landfill. And as part of our pledge to be thoughtful in our manufacturing, we partner with suppliers that are committed to maximising the percentage of recycled polyester they utilise in production, keeping plastic out of our oceans and reusing it as much as possible.
Contract Grade
Our fabric suppliers meet and exceed the contract grade certifications for fabrics. Selected wood artisan partners work with locally sourced materials as much as possible, favouring exotic species, which meanss they are removing unwanted foreign trees from the local environment, encouraging the reforestation of the land with indigenous plants.
