PROJECT DESCRIPTION :
Date : 3-28-2022
location : Sudan, Khartoum
Why do we need to build a school :
As part of 2020 strategic plan of education, the Sudan’s ministry of education intended to develop a model for the 21st-century elementary school design to be distributed on specific locations on the country.
The 21st school is a complex system of environments that may have to address a wide variety of educational, social, recreational, environmental, and community needs. It’s also a flexible educational system that aims to educate students and maintain their health in a comfortable and healthy environment suitable for creativity and creating constructive relationships between students.

The site is located in the Burri Al-Mahs (a popular and vital neighborhood), overlooking al-Safa Street and is easy to reach due to its proximity to major streets and burri transportation bus station. Khartoum airport may be a source of noise, but through the use of strategies and tools such as sandwich panels for roofing this noise can be controlled.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 4
The initial volume was created based on two factors :
- shape of the site.
- the need for an internal courtyard to become the space of assembly and activity, and to ensure a smooth ventilation all around the building.
The volume was separated to create a clear entrance and to ensure the circulation Continuity.
Finally three volumes were added to increase the spaces and to create functional separations.

Mutual spaces are important for forming constructive social relations between students and promoting societal values among them. A strong community is founded through strong healthy relationships. This diagram highlights these spaces
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 9
There are 3 types of spaces that this section explains :
- the central open courtyard which is accessible visually and physically to all users and made to be a space of activity.
- A corridor visually connected to the courtyard and surrounds it, and provides access to the internal spaces.
- Internal spaces

To avoid direct sunrays as much as possible, the linear long parts of the building were placed on the northern and southern sides, and classrooms were placed on these parts. The central courtyard ensures smooth ventilation all around.
