AFARI PAR

THE WILDSCAPE OF THE ARABIAN PENINSULA A safari park is an environmental institute that helps in preserving the environment and wildlife. Visitors and families can spend the whole day learning and entertain. The mission is to create an environment to entertain, educate, and raise public awareness of natural wildlife. This will help in the research and conserving the natural environment.

The safari park site was selected to be in Jubail marine sanctuary, overlooking the road7 near Jubail city and 20 min drive trip from the city residential area.

concept and massing

The concept is derived from how Nomads, Birds, and animals living in desert environments live on a constant journey for different reasons seeking shelter, and basic living needs food and water. Nowadays, people go to the Desert seeking an exciting experience or a quiet moment with nature. The concept is coming from journeys and the reasons for it; By placing spatial moments and spaces to achieve these reasons.

Safari Center Zones The Safari Center zones are selected to serve the users, from visitors, researchers, and workers. The center has a Zoo and a boundary wall for display; three oval domes shaped galleries, and an Aviary dome. All the floors are divided into a restricted section and a public section. The last two floors are for an observatory, and they have an observatory terrace—administration on the fourth floor and the research center on the second floor. At the back of the safari center, there is an area prepared to be a breeding zone for animals.

plans and sections Making the contours of the site as the main factor is how the center’s plans were designed. The site was brook into three zones the Safari Center, Safari Camp, and the Safari; all these zones are connected with the safari dirt road and the ring road around the Safari Center. The Safari Center designed to be a destination.

The sections show the spatial volume inside the Safri Center and how there are two atriums and overlooking spaces to give the Center an environment that helps visitors connect with the natural environment and make natural light enter the inner parts of the Center.

The public areas designed to enhance the visitor’s experience moving around the Center, the Zoo, and all the other spaces and functions of this project seating were provided as well as providing shading.

LIFESTYLE

CENTER SPRING GARDEN

Moving toward achieving the kingdom’s vision, the idea of lifestyle centers appeared and having a place where the whole family can come and entertain, or contribute to the community. A center where hobbies of individuals are developed and business thrived, providing families to live and work in the same block.

The lifestyle center provides the spaces and places toward achieving the three pillars of the vision of 2030 and its other goals.

Urban analysis The urban analysis was done to decide the site of the center. To know the immediate users, to help and state rules and guidelines for the architecture and urban design of the lifestyle center. How people come to the center and what they need near them to provide in the center.

Studying the vision and the different aspects to help and know more about the future programs and functions needed in the lifestyle center. the function diagrams helped in places related function in the center near the possible users.

Design response In response to the urban analysis, different functions of the project were placed in the best place for the users concerning the urban context. The community-related functions were positioned near the denser area of the neighborhood, and the educational spaces were places near the schools and educational parts of the neighborhood. Housing and commercial use space are provided and designed to serve the center and the neighborhood.

The project looked at the different scales of design, from the urban scale to the landscape level. Designing streets and placing the streets furniture needed in a project like this to introduce community spaces that are fully equipped to welcome users to the best standards.

The guide for commercial spaces and how they should look was introduced. The architecture guideline of the building was designed and reviewed. The guideline is for investors to build and place their projects in the lifestyle center and how the theme and the final result should look.

SUBURB HOUSING THE OASIS GARDEN

researching and designing a NEW FORMS OF URBANITY, The transformation of urban form and spaces pattern is as old as cities themselves. new ideologies, demographic values and economic change create conditions for the centuries old material transformation of city’s DNA. We examined a set of existing alternative strategies for arranging diffuse urban settlement, to latter design and develop new contemporary strategies and concepts.

The goal is to change the arrangement of the existing blocks that create an isolated environment and bring the idea where the public space start to bring the individuals of the community together — a park like an oasis garden into the site.

The main idea of bringing the oasis garden into my suburban design would enhance the quietness quality to the environment in the block and bring joy to the people who live there. I intend to establish more public and social space on the site, but I still need to think about the spatial quality of the space where people are going to live and interact.

Like using the tress apartment building to shape the spaces around the block in the 2D and 3D of the block, which I used later in the design to separate between the public and private areas. I am introducing a denser community and a variety of programs.

The privacy of the traditional residents has been looked at and kept in the design. For the new residents, apartments have been designed to serve their needs, and apartment studios with a high view for the individuals of the community.
