Our BTEC Higher National Diploma in Sport provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the Sport, Leisure and Recreation sector. National recognition by employers allows direct progression to employment or to higher education qualifications such as a full-time degree in this related area. Students have the opportunity to specialise by choosing from a variety of different units.

WHAT WILL I STUDY? Mandatory units, for example: Applied Sports Coaching and The Evolution of Sports Development.
Tutor Profile: Iain Leckie Iain Leckie is one of County Durham’s most qualified coaches with at least 15 years experience working as a professional coach with Darlington FC and Newcastle United, working within the Youth Department. He holds the UEFA A Licence and is a Coach Educator for the FA Level 1 and Level 2 Football Coaching Certificate. He is an enthusiastic motivator and inspires young people with his knowledge, experience and passion for sport.
Specialist units, for example: Sport and Exercise Psychology and Training and Fitness for Sport and Exercise.
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT? Your qualification will be taught in both theory and practical classrooms (e.g Sports Hall and the College’s MYGYM Fitness Suite).
