DON’T EXPERIENCE SUMMER SLIDE... REGISTER FOR SUMMER TODAY!

The term “Summer Slide” refers to the distinct learning loss that students can experience when out of school for the summer. “A regression in academic proficiency due to summer break, experts warn it hinders kids’ progress when they head back to school.” (Scholastic)

Dancers also experience Summer Slide when they don’t participate in dance-related activities over the summer! Make sure your dancers continue to build on the skills they worked so hard to learn during the school-year session by enrolling them in one of our classes, camps, or dance intensive workshops this summer. We are offering seven weeks of classes, three weeks of dance intensives (where dancers take multiple classes in a variety of dance styles over the course of one week), and six weeks of dance camps for ages 3-6 and 6-10. We look forward to continuing your child’s dance education this summer!

SPRING SHOW CONGRATULATIONS!

We had such a wonderful time with you and your dancers during our Spring Show performances on May 18th and 19th! The energy levels were fantastic and your dancers did a great job both on- and off-stage to showcase their dance skills and positive attitudes. Thank you, parents, for the part you played in making sure your dancers arrived prepared and in costume for show photo week, dress rehearsals, and finally, our Spring Shows. We understand the effort it takes and can’t tell you how much we appreciate you! The commitment to your child does not go unnoticed and culminated in beautiful performances by all dancers. We are so proud of them!

2024-2025 REGISTRATION

We are working on finalizing our 2024-2025 school-year session calendar and emailed a preliminary schedule of classes to current families on June 1st! As we mentioned in previous communications, we are moving from family registration fees to family membership levels for 2024-2025, so please review the Membership Level document for all the details. We have extended the deadline to select a membership level to JUNE 4th; please fill out your 20242025 Membership Form to select a membership level (or opt-out) by that deadline. If you optout right now but change your mind later, we'd love to have you back! You need only login to your Jackrabbit portal after July 1st and select the classes you would like your child to enroll in You will be charged a $65 Community Level membership fee at that time

LAST TWO WEEKS OF CLASSES!

We are in the final stretch of our 2023-2024 school-year session, with our last two weeks of classes! Note that from June 1 through June 14th, your child has the option to not only attend their regular class, but to also try another class (or two!) for free. For example, if your child takes Ballet/Jazz but would like to try Hip Hop Basics to see if they like it, now is a good opportunity for them to try it out! No need to register for a class ahead of time, simply look at the current class schedule, choose a class that matches your child’s age/approximate skill level, and bring your child to the studio on the day/time of the class they would like to try Just check in at the front desk a few minutes before the class starts and a staff member will point you in the right direction. Our teachers look forward to welcoming students to try their classes the last two weeks of the session!

CREATIVE MOVEMENT & ACRO WATCH WEEK!

Our Creative Movement and Acro classes will be inviting parents into class the week of June 3rd through June 8th! See what your kiddos have been working on in class this year and enjoy special performances or demonstrations. We are so proud of them for all they have learned this year!

ANNIVERSARY PARTY!

We were thrilled to host Backstage alumni at one of our Spring Shows in May and also celebrate with a fun 80’s-themed bowling party! Alumni from our earliest days to recent graduates joined us to catch up with one another and reminisce about their days at Backstage.

A few alumni shared their thoughts about their time at Backstage with us:

Monique Stuart-German commented on how fun it was to see familiar faces! She is super grateful for time spent at the studio as a kid and teen, and for what she learned at Backstage about teamwork, commitment, friendship, effort, self-expression and creativity.

Michele Mains Rufer said that it was so fun to see the recital show and hang out with ladies that were such a huge part of her youth She enjoyed reminiscing about time spent at the studio, her favorite dances, the amazing friendships, and life lessons learned at Backstage

Tracie Reger said she is so proud to be a BDS alum and so amazed by the studio and Marty!!! She said that Backstage is such an incredible place that holds many special memories for her! She is so grateful to all who helped her become who she is today!
