We will deliver to the KIRO 7 Cares Toy Drive, benefitting Toys For Tots warehouse. The Salvation Army and other local non-profit agencies will distribute to deserving children and families.
The most needed toy donations include items for babies, girls and boys aged 9-13, and items for preteens and teens. Suggested teen items include: sporting equipment, skateboards, books, cosmetic and bath gift sets, board games and remote control toys and video games.
Announcing Our Sp
pring Show Theme!!!
This month, our teachers will reveal their plans for your dancer's recital routines – the music and costume that will help our instructors’ choreography come to life on stage. Choosing these items takes time, energy, and dedication from our instructors to make sure their dancers are set up to succeed on stage in May. If you’re new to dance, or new to Backstage, we’re pulling back the curtain a little bit to show some of the thoughts and pieces that go into each selection.
The process starts even before classes begin in September! Over the summer, our instructors are creating music playlists and checking costume websites for new styles. They look for music and a concept that inspires them to create great choreography that their students will love. They consider what skills they'd like to showcase for each class. At Backstage, we focus on making our costumes, choreography and music choices healthy and positive for all of our dancers.
Performing in the Spring Show is the culmination of so many things that students learn all year long in dance class. Organizational work for our shows has been happening behind the scenes for months. Planning our shows truly feels like planning 8 weddings on the same weekend. We can't wait for you to see it!

Top 3 FAQs Can I add or change classes? We have closed enrollment for the 21/22 school year in most instances. Acro and tech classes will continue to be available throughout the year as those classes do not participate in the spring show.
Am I required to participate in the Spring Show? NO! If you do not wish to participate in our show, that is not a problem. Your child is welcome to continue coming to class, learning technique, new skills and choreography that will be performed in the show. Your last month of classes will be in April as we focus heavily on show protocol in May, and we don't want any of our dancers to feel left out.
Are make-up classes available? Yes! If you are absent from your regular class you are welcome to make up in a comparable age/level class. Contact us if you have questions for comparable class options!
Our Character Focus for December is
Look for a culture card coming home with your child when we notice them displaying this trait, either in the classroom or the lobby at Backstage!
Did You Know? Movement, music, patterns, group dynamics and the physicality of dance are all factors that benefit cognitive function.
Backstage would like to partner with you on your parenting journey! We will inform you of parenting workshops and speaker series that may be of interest to you, and hope to bring you some of our own events throughout the year.
