Spring 2022, Vol. 10, No. 1 Publisher Brittany N. Winkfield Contributors Kimberly S. Reed, Wande Isola LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER

B2B TIP: Be A Seed. Jesus said, “How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it? It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of all garden plants; it grows long branches, and birds can make nests in its shade.” Mark 4:30-32 NLT Every great story begins with a vision. 10 years ago God blessed me with a vision to start a publication called Back2Basics Magazine. Our mission is to tell stories through words and images that inspire others in their walk with Christ. We amplify black creators and entrepreneurs because representation matters. In this journey, I’ve been inspired and encouraged in my faith walk beyond my wildest dreams. My prayer is that each of our readers can be a seed in the work they do each day. When you think about it, a seed must crack and come completely undone in order to bloom. Everyday we experience triumphs and setbacks from God that ultimately grow us into everything we are called to be. No matter how small the step, growth is the outcome.

My name is Kymone Hinds. As a business coach and launch strategist, I understand the struggle. I know about sleepless nights burning the midnight oil and constantly sacrificing time with family and friends just to get client projects done. I know about bleeding time doing one-onone coaching, dealing with the huge monthly financial swings due to the unpredictability of sales, and feeling apprehensive about charging more despite money struggles, which leads to giving away services for free or far less than what they’re worth. I know about being fueled by a genuine, Godgiven desire to transform lives, yet constantly questioning it because of how real burnout is for entrepreneurs. Battling through and overcoming these experiences has given me an invaluable empathy and clear perspective. Since 2017, I’ve had the privilege of travelling the country (both literally and, since COVID, virtually) and successfully teaching hundreds of coaches, influencers, pastors, entrepreneurs, and wantrepreneurs to create successful online offers, start profitable businesses, and transform lives on a massive level without the stress of an unsustainable one-on-one business model. Despite the wide variety of individuals and business niches I have worked with, the solution has always been the same: CREATING A SIGNATURE OFFER! Why? Because having a signature offer allows you to... •

Deliver better results to more people who benefit from the community space you create

7 •

Protect your time by providing your expertise on a one-to-many level instead of one-on-one

Present your knowledge in a way that more accurately represents its value, allowing you to sell it for more

ain saleable assets that provide passive G income while you sleep

cquire expert-level credibility in your field A of expertise

Here’s the honest truth: No matter how hard you work, and no matter how big your heart is to help not just one but many, if you only provide one-on-one services, you will burn out long before you ever reach your revenue or transformation goals. Another honest truth: Regardless of if you have a 9-to-5 job or are a full-time entrepreneur, if you don’t have a signature offer, you are literally leaving money on the table. And every day, month, and year that you continue to not have an offer, the cost of that inaction is becoming bigger and bigger. Are you ready to stop paying the cost of inaction and snatch that money off the table? Discover the steps to turn your current expertise into a premium value online offer that allows you to quit giving your time in one-on-one services and transform lives at an exponential level!

The Next Create Your Offer Challenge Starts:

March 28th to March 30th | 6 PM EST

or in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity. But fear God. Ecclesiastes 5:7

Fear God and give glory to Him for the hour of His judgement is near. That is the sole message of FLF’s latest EP project titled “but fear God.” While the pursuits of life are often in vain and are vanity in and of themselves, there is one thing that remains true throughout all ages and that is the call to fear God and give glory to Him.

400k in total views and nearly 10k in subscribers. Since then I have felt an incredible calling on my heart to not only to spread the gospel message through music, but also through video ministry and YouTube. In 2022, we have already reached nearly 40k views!

If you find that this ministry has been important or impactful in your own lives, or know the impact that it can have in the lives of others by spreading the gospel, I invite you to help support the growth of Light Up Babylon by joining as a patron and Patreon. Patreon allows creators to produce content and build a community around supporting that content. The community we aim to build will allow me to spend more time focusing on creating and sharing content that exposes darkness in the music industry by shining the spotlight of Christ and also producing content that can be shared and bring awareness to the negative effects of music and culture on our lives. I will always produce content for YouTube, so feel free to support there as well. ___________________________________ Thanks again for your time, and God bless you. EMBRACE Optimism

By Kimberly S. Reed

SPRING 2022 | BACK2BASICSMAG.COM

PUT ADVERSITY IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR

Yet despite these tumultuous events, some people have remained remarkably positive on the future of the nation. They thrive in a world of differences, and seem be genuinely welcoming to new ways of life and having deeply embraced technology, the virtual workplace and feel empowered about using these new tools to leveling up their optimism in 2022. And some people in better shape than others – people are looking at the New Year as just the 5th quarter of 2021 and jumping right back into the same old routine isn’t going to happen with a simple snap of our fingers, but that doesn’t have to be the case. The key is to adopt a positive mindset – OPTIMISM! Being optimistic doesn’t simply meaning looking at the world through rose-colored glasses. If anything, crisis events such as a global pandemic reminding us that life is not always a bowl of good home made ice cream or your favorite dessert.

And there’s no need to walk around spewing empty platitudes, especially if you don’t mean or believe them. No, optimism encompasses much more than this. Chiefly, optimism is about mastering a mindset that acknowledges that adversity is nearly always just a temporary setback. Let me repeat that: a temporary setback. Too often in life, and especially after the year we’ve just had, it’s easy to dwell on adversity. But that’s exactly what we need to avoid doing and the lessons of 2020 and 2021 are our greatest blessings. There is power is our survival. The most successful optimists never forget what they have to be thankful for. While striving to reach our goals and achieve more, it’s important to feel grateful for what we have in the present. Otherwise, we cultivate dissatisfaction alongside ambition. Personally, I keep a gratitude notebook where I record at least 3-5 things that I’m grateful for at the very start of my day. It helps me approach each morning with a positive frame of mind and gives me comfort knowing that I have a fantastic foundation to build upon every day– no matter what may happen. When adversity is your teacher, there are unique superpowers you have from your experiences.

There are 3 things, I’d like you to think about to make 2022 your year of optimism: BE THE SAME IN THE NEW YEAR AS YOU WERE IN

To have a future that flourishes, you need to know

how to handle adversity. While it might seem easy to

Why does a resolution have to force you to be different? Instead of striving to do something you’ve never done before, like writing a book, crossing an item of your bucket list, repeat patterns that worked well for you in 2022. Keep the finish line close. The list you should make for January 2022 is not a list of “ I never will do or never have done, but rather a list of I’ve dones’, areas you have seen progress in your life that you want to build upon.

LOOK TO YOUR STRENGTHS FROM 2021 TO GUIDE YOU FORWARD I have to say yes, yes to this one! To those of you who are optimists, like me, who push ourselves to exhaustion to be better every single day and are WAY too hard on ourselves when you don’t hit your own irrationally high standards and who do not understand that perfection is an illusion. From crash and burnville’, let me say this: STOP IT!

blame others, you won’t feel good about yourself and that person won’t believe that you’re in this together. Our society promotes blaming other people and pointing fingers when something goes wrong. The most successful people I know don’t blame anyone, not even themselves. When something goes wrong, they look at the situation objectively and see where they could have done something differently. They use their setbacks as a learning process for being the best version of themselves. So many of the things that fill up our resolutions will not make this a happier year. Being grateful daily for the past and present – Gratitude is a game changer and changes the trajectory of your life. Journal about positive experiences and successes in your life, and understand that we cannot LEARN without lessons. Make someone else’s 2022 better through acts of kindness. Being resolved to be happy and kind today, focusing on your strengths and giving yourself a break are the keys to your best 2022 ever! I want you to live life without your brakes on and with

ENVISION YOUR BEST POSSIBLE

a whole lotta’ zest!

Imagine your life in 12-24 months — what would it look like? How would it feel? Now sit down and journal about it: once a week, for 5 to six minutes, for one or two months. BE YOURSELF BY Wande VIA YOUVERSION

DON’T BE A clone, YOU WERE MADE TOO unique.

G

od created us all with our own unique gifts and skill sets, yet often we find ourselves settling due to fear. Fear of failure, fear of what others will think, or even the fear in the realm of insecurity with thoughts such as, “who am I to dream something this big?” When we finally take a moment to step back, pause, and really reflect on who God has called us to be it leaves us with a decision to make. Am I ready to let go of the firm grasp I have on my life to ultimately follow the path God has given me? Am I willing to trust that He wants the best for me and is my provider? Am I willing to believe and have faith?

Often the fear to step out can feel like a personal problem. We feel like we’ll make the world better by not rocking the boat. However, when we look at scriptures such as the parable of the talents, we begin to see that the failure to act is scolded when the master returns (even when the failure to act was rooted in not wanting to mess anything up). How many times have you failed to act because you didn’t want to step on any toes? The decision to be who God has called us to be requires us to have faith and take action. It may be scary at first. However, we can have peace knowing that when we seek God, He will not fail us.

PRAYER: God, help me to trust you and take action upon who you’re calling me to be. ACTION: Write down one action you could take this month to make progress toward being who God has called you to be.
