News from Bablake Junior and Pre Prep School

n the picture above Year 6 pupils are dressed in 1940s outfits as part of their World War 2 day, a poignant reminder of how important it is for us to consider our past.

There is much evidence of ‘Hands on History’ in this copy of Simba. Of course we cannot actually relive the past, but at school and through visits we aim to enhance the children’s understanding and empathy. We hope that this helps their people skills; developing compassion, self-control and our ability to ‘get on’. Coventry’s spirit of ‘Peace and Reconciliation’, consequential to World War 2, enriches our city, our community, our past and our future. I am sure it can enrich our Christmas.

We learn from the experiences of others and we can develop an understanding of what drives people and events. The ability to engage more effectively with the past is enhanced by more vivid experiences and this reinforcement helps our understanding grow.
