WHAT IS GOOGLE MY BUSINESS? Google My Business (GMB) is a free, multi-featured business listing that local businesses can use to manage their presence on Google Search and Google Maps. A Google My Business listing is not unlike listings on online business directories such as Yelp, but it’s found directly in Google and Google Maps search results, and therefore doesn’t require a visit to a third-party site.

Google My Business has gone far beyond a simple business listing, and thanks to a wealth of features and functions, is now considered a core part of local Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

Here’s how Google describes Google My Business: “Google My Business is a free and easy-to-use tool for businesses and organizations to manage their online presence across Google, including Search and Maps.

To help customers find your business, and to tell them your story, you can verify your business and edit your business information.”

KEYWORDS - are ideas and topics that define what your content is about. These are the words and phrases that searchers input into search engines like Google to find businesses.

FRAMEWORK What are the TOP 5 keywords you think that your clients are searching about your business?

Ask a friend what are the top 5 things they may search about your business or products.

Look for the keywords that have low ranking but high volume Look for keywords spelling errors.

TOOLS There are keyword planners tools that we can use to help us research keywords for the search campaigns.

One of the many tools is the Google Adwords Keyword Planner.

To access the Google Adwords Keyword Planner, you need to have a Google Ads account. To get started, go to ads.google.com and tap on the “Get Started” button located on the top right hand side of the page or on the middle page

In getting started, you would have to need a campaign set up in Google Ads. If you already have a campaign set up on your Google Ads account, click on the Tools and Settings tab. Under the Planning section, you would see the Keyword Planner and click on that. If you don’t have a campaign, you should start your own low value campaign for a few bucks to gain access.

On the next page, click and select “Discover New Keywords”.

Type in the keywords that are closely related to your business. Note: You can type in as many keywords as you want. In this example, we are looking at “Website Design Services” Once you have typed in your keywords, click on the “Get Results”

The next page will show you the data of the keywords that you have entered. What we are looking for is the results of medium to high monthly searches (Avg. Monthly Searches) but low to medium competition (Competition).

There are also sections on the data that can help you on planning your keywords.

NOTE: In this Keyword Planner you can also select “Start with a Website” option to discover the keywords that are used by your competitors in search using their website. You can also use this option to see what are the keywords that people used to search your website.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Google wants a perfect alignment of the keywords between your Google My Business Listing Google Reviews Your website This allows more search traffic along the way. If all of this were already optimized, Google AdWords goes “jackpot” and zooms you up the rankings. .

There are no limits in planning on your keywords but try to focus first on 3-5 keywords.
