Mitzvah Madim

The Muffin Boutique is a bakery in Jerusalem which offers home-made muffins, bagels and coffee. For the past few years, we have partnered with this wonderful shop to raise funds to distribute free muffins and coffee to Israeli soldiers. In honour of Yom HaZikaron, Talmud Torah families raised $1,000 and wrote 300 personal cards to soldiers. These heartfelt cards are given to each soldier along with their free muffin and coffee.

If you find yourselves on Ben Yehudah Street in Jerusalem, please drop in to the Muffin Boutique to say hello to former Montrealers and owners of the bakery, Shmarya and Lainie Richler. https://www. muffinboutique.com/

My name is Max Miller. I am currently an active soldier in the IDF. A few days ago, I walked into a bakery on Ben Yehudah Street in Jerusalem to buy some food on my way back to base. Upon noticing my uniform, I was given a free muffin and coffee; but more importantly, I received a note from Ben Fhima in Class 5A. The note now sits proudly on my desk on base, and I have the privilege of seeing it every time I sit down to work and am reminded of what I’m doing here in Israel and who I’m doing it for.

So to Ben, Class 5A, and all of Talmud Torah, thank you for encouraging us to keep working hard in the Israeli army. What we do here would be impossible without your cheerleading and love from afar.

FIRST PLACE SCHOOL-WIDE AT THE FERMAT MATH PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP

I am awed by our incredibly generous donors who transform lives each and every day. It is they who enable quality innovative programming, support tuition assistance, fund extra-curricular student opportunities, sponsor school events and ensure the sustainability of our beloved schools through endowments. It is our donors who allow us to dream the dreams and ensure that we realize them and it is our students who are the beneficiaries.

Our annual campaign was a resounding success, with the support of our community allowing us to continue to provide exceptional learning opportunities for our students. The inaugural Day of Giving was a highlight of the year, with a record-breaking amount of funds raised in just 24 hours. These funds will be used to support critical programs and initiatives that directly benefit our students and teachers.

We are also grateful for the grants that we received from various foundations, which allowed us to expand our programs and enhance the learning experience for our students. These grants enable us to offer additional resources, opportunities, and experiences that would not have been possible otherwise.

While we continue our efforts for successful annual campaigns, our fundraising strategies now include important considerations for tomorrow - for the future generations of Talmud Torah | Herzliah students.

For over one hundred and twenty five years, Talmud Torah | Herzliah has proudly been inspiring academic excellence, encouraging personal growth and developing strong Jewish identity in our students. Through conversations with our loyal donors, we have come to realize that they too want to see a bright Jewish future for generations of Talmud Torah | Herzliah students. They too are eager to ensure that the school continues to thrive for years to come, supporting generations of Jewish youth on their journeys to becoming the creative and innovative Jewish leaders of tomorrow. While we always understood our responsibility to ensure the continuity of this tradition, which has served the Montreal Jewish community so well, we now have a new and effective tool to help us achieve our goalsEndowment and Legacy giving.

In short, your investment in our school has a transformative impact on the lives of our students and the wider community. Your support helps us to turn dreams into reality and empowers our students to achieve their full potential.
