STUDENTS GIVING BACK
Tikkun Olam Tiyul
As part of our commitment to the core value of Tikkun Olam, a cohort of Secondary IV students, together with two staff members, traveled to Holon, Israel to take part in an immersive and authentic learning experience. Over the course of ten days students worked together with other volunteers and health care professionals at Save a Child’s Heart (SACH). They witnessed and took part in the very best of Israel. This inaugural experiential program allowed the participants to actively promote other’s well being through acts of loving kindness.

Herzliah students made a tremendous impact on the lives of children who were facing monumental health challenges. They spent time with the children in the Legacy Heritage Children’s Home as well as in the hospital, helping keep spirits high while entertaining and supporting the young patients. They learned about the complex logistics of fundraising and the intricacies of pediatric healthcare. The trip enabled our students to make a meaningful difference while at the same time build character and become empathetic to the plight of others, all while establishing a strong connection to Israel.
Thanks to incredibly generous donors who sponsored the trip, we were able to reduce the cost for the students and their families.
This trip taught me how special Israel truly is. Besides the incredibly impressive advanced medical system Israel has compared to the rest of the world, I was able to see Israel’s willingness to do good, Tikkun olam.
Every Tuesday, Israel brings sick kids from Gaza, to provide them medical care. To me, this encapsulates Israel. They are able to put all conflict and rivalry aside to do a mitzvah.
