Reba Calhoun, mother, grandmother and teacher passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, 21 days shy of her 98th birthday. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 at Ash Creek Cemetery, 300 S. Stewart St., Azle. Visitations will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Reba was born Sept. 7, 1917 to the late Hunt and Evelena Woody Scoggin, in the Sabathney Community. She was the granddaughter of Parker County pioneers, Samuel “Red Sam” Woody and Mary “Mollie White” Woody. Reba graduated from Azle High School and attended Brownwood, Arlington and Weatherford colleges. She started her 37 year teaching
career in Lone Camp, where she met and married Oscar Calhoun. Reba taught 35 years in Springtown before retiring. She was a member of Parker County Home Extension and loved to travel. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hunt and Evelena Scoggin; sister, Oma Lee Scoggin; husband, Oscar Calhoun; and son, Larry Calhoun. Survivors include son, Don Calhoun and wife, Doris, of Azle; daughter-in-law, Elsie Calhoun of Weatherford; four grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; six great-greatgrandchildren; and many other loving family members, friends and former students. Arthur Melvin Connel, 84, of Azle, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Azle, 1017 Boyd Road, Azle, 76020. His body will lie in state one hour prior to service time at the church in Azle. Interment will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation was from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday

Ruth Hall born November 11, 1927, passed away at the age of 87, in the Azle Hospital, on Thursday, August 20, 2015. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 25. at Biggers Funeral Home, 6100 Azle Ave., Lake Worth. Visitation was Monday evening at the funeral home. Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery. Pall Bearers were her grandsons, Clay Hall, Selden Gilley, Seth Dempsey, Jason Karbach, Robert Wood, and Raymond Stephens. Honorary pall bearer Matthew Hall (deceased). Per her request, please make all donations to: Ash Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, 300 S. Stewart St., Azle, Texas. 76020 or the charity of your choice. Ruth was one of seven siblings born to Patrick and Lela Ford in Azle. She resided in Azle until her death. Ruth was
preceded by her husband of 56 years, Richard (Vance) Hall in June 2000, and a grandson, Matthew Vance Hall in March 2003. She attended the Azle school system where she graduated, class of 1945. Ruth was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and a friend to all that knew her. Her Christian faith was the life force she believed in and spent many years as a Sunday school teacher and singing in the choir.
