Staff Spotlight

Mike Talmont: A Dedicated Volunteer at the Azle Senior Center

The Azle Senior Center thrives thanks to the dedication of individuals like Mike Talmont, the volunteer assistant director who plays a vital role in keeping things running smoothly. Born in Japan while his father served in the Air Force, Mike spent much of his childhood traveling before eventually settling in Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where he earned his degree, leading to a long and accomplished career with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Mike moved to Azle in 1994 and became involved with the senior center after his wife joined its efforts. Since then, he has become an indispensable part of the team, handling event setups, maintaining organization, and assisting the director, JJ, with anything needed to support the center’s daily operations.

When asked about his hopes for the senior center, Mike shares a simple yet impactful vision: growth. He wants to see more people participating in the center’s activities and taking advantage of the lunch program offered through Meals on Wheels. His commitment to fostering a welcoming and active environment reflects his deep appreciation for community service.

Mike may be a man of few words, but his actions speak volumes. Always ready to lend a helping hand and greet others with a warm smile, he embodies the spirit of service. The Azle community is grateful for his hard work and dedication, which continue to make a difference in the lives of local seniors.
