The artists selected in the call for Babestu are working on their creative processes at Lantegia. Laboratory of ideas.

Josune Urrutia «What I propose is a collective production of stories about cancer in the framework of a Pediatric Oncology Unit in the Basque Country. By talking with the professional community of the Cruces Hospital I am getting to know and delving into the situation -of special vulnerability in some cases- lived by young patients, which gives a complexity to the project. Likewise, the pandemic situation implies adjusting work methods and processes, promoting the idea of an autonomous device, which multiplies the possibilities raised.».

The projects chosen through Babestu. The support programme for contemporary creation, are led by artists with different profiles and careers. All of them are linked to the programme and always have a public part, either through the work done or their creative processes.

«Elige tu propia normalidad (Choose you own normality) is a participatory artistic project that arises from the need to reinvent a present that seems anchored in the return "to what was before", unable to look to the future beyond the obvious. This proposal by Raquel Meyers and Borja Crespo is a space for reflection, analog and digital, open to any collaboration that proposes a suggestive vision of now and tomorrow. It was born out of the urgency of exposing new visions that approach the dystopias of the collective imagination, posing a web whose origin is a series of paper fanzines, connected to an online rhizome made up of multiple dialogues in different formats.».

TELL US WHAT NORMALITY MEANS TO YOU!

"What is normality? Nobody knows. Neither you nor I. Nobody. Choose your own normality. There are millions and millions. Right now, at this very moment, hundreds of thousands are being created. Little by little, slowly but surely. We want to know what "normality” means to you. We want you to imagine it and send it to us". Accepting entries until 3 October 2021.
