We proudly serve more than 1,000 mission-driven members across Arizona—nonprofits, foundations, grantmakers, government agencies, students, and businesses —each united by one goal: to build a vibrant, equitable Arizona where all people and living things thrive.
We are more than a membership association—we are a trusted partner, policy advocate, and convener. For funders and corporate sponsors, we offer a rare opportunity: to be at the center of a powerful movement driving measurable, lasting change in communities across Arizona.
Our Mission
To unite nonprofits and philanthropy to transform Arizona through education, advocacy, and innovation.
Our Vision

Why Partner with Us?
When you invest in AZ Impact for Good, you’re not just writing a check—you’re joining a movement. You’re helping nonprofits scale their solutions. You’re advancing trust-based philanthropy. You’re shaping public policy. And you’re positioning your business as a visible and values-aligned leader in Arizona’s social impact ecosystem.
Two Sector Leaders, ONE BOLD VISION.
AZ Impact for Good was formed in 2022 through the strategic merger of two pioneering organizations: the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits and Arizona Grantmakers Forum. This merger was a bold answer to one essential question: How can we drive greater impact, together?
Our Legacy
The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits
Formally incorporated in 2004, the Alliance emerged from a deep, statewide consultation process led by the Arizona Community Foundation, Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, Quarles & Brady Streich Lang, and St. Luke’s Health Initiative (now Vitalyst Health Foundation). The resulting feasibility study identified six key priorities—from advocacy and shared services to training and strategic partnerships—and catalyzed the creation of a hub that, over nearly two decades, equipped thousands of nonprofits to strengthen capacity and advance their missions.
Arizona Grantmakers Forum
Established to elevate the role of philanthropy, Arizona Grantmakers Forum convened a statewide network of over 70 grantmaking institutions and 400+ philanthropic professionals. Through more than 20 programs annually, it fostered deep collaboration, trust-based giving practices, and policy advocacy to increase the collective impact of philanthropy across Arizona. The merger enshrined our commitment to do more, reach further, and lead with unity.
Strategic Priorities
Our Roadmap for Transformational Impact
As we chart the future, AZ Impact for Good is guided by a dynamic strategic plan built around three interconnected priorities. These are not just goals—they are investment opportunities for funders and business partners who want to be part of shaping Arizona’s future.

Why Invest in Arizona’s Nonprofit Sector
Catalyze Change. Elevate Communities. Amplify Your Impact.
Arizona’s nonprofit sector is more than a force for good—it’s a cornerstone of the state’s economy, a driver of innovation, and a vital partner in shaping resilient, thriving communities. With over 20,000 nonprofit organizations employing nearly 1 in 14 Arizona workers , the sector contributes billions to the state’s GDP and plays an essential role in addressing everything from education and health to economic mobility and environmental sustainability.
But too often, the nonprofits delivering this impact operate underfunded, overextended, and under-recognized. That’s where AZ Impact for Good steps in—and where your investment becomes a multiplier.
By investing in AZ Impact for Good, you are not just supporting a single organization. You are powering a statewide infrastructure that lifts the entire sector—from small grassroots groups to major philanthropic institutions. Your partnership strengthens nonprofit leadership, drives equity-centered policy reform, connects funders and nonprofits in meaningful collaboration, and ensures that solutions are informed by those closest to the work.

Strategic Investment areas
Advocacy & Public Policy
Protecting the Sector. Advancing the State.
At AZ Impact for Good, advocacy isn’t just a program: it’s our heartbeat.
We unite nonprofits and philanthropy to elevate voices, influence policy, and safeguard the nonprofit and philanthropic sector’s ability to serve every corner of Arizona. This work, often behind the scenes, is the foundation that allows more than 24,000 nonprofits to thrive.
But advocacy is resource-intensive. It requires: data, relationships, strategy, time, and a committed community of partners who understand what’s at stake.
Why Advocacy Matters?
Arizona’s nonprofit and philanthropic sector:
• Employs more than 220,000 Arizonans
• Invests in and delivers essential services in health, housing, education, environment, and more
• Mobilizes tens of thousands of volunteers statewide
Yet, nonprofits often operate in an environment shaped by laws, funding policies, and regulatory barriers that can either unlock or limit their impact.
NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US.
Decisions affecting the nonprofit sector are made every day—our job is to make sure they’re made with us, not for us. AZ Impact for Good ensure Arizona’s nonprofit sector is always in the rooms where decisions are made.
How We Lead
Policy Council
Our Policy Council is a statewide advisory group of 300+ nonprofit and philanthropic leaders who meet monthly to identify emerging issues and shape our annual Public Policy Agenda. Their insights keep our advocacy grounded, collaborative, and responsive to real-world challenges.
Public Affairs and Policy Team
Our professional advocacy team brings deep policy expertise and insights to the sector’s biggest issues— whether it’s protecting tax exemptions, expanding civic participation, or fighting for fair funding.
Day of Advocacy
Our annual Day of Advocacy at the state Capitol offers members a rare opportunity to meet face to face with legislators, learn the ropes of policymaking, and collectively raise the sector’s profile.
Advocacy Education
Through webinars, trainings, action alerts, and voter engagement tools, we empower nonprofit professionals, board members, and funders to confidently engage in policy conversations yearround.
Civic Engagement
We provide tools to help nonprofits understand and activate their rights to advocate, lobby, and engage voters legally and effectively—because policy change starts with an informed, mobilized community.
How You Can Help
Our advocacy work directly benefits every nonprofit and funder in Arizona, whether they’re in the room or not. Your investment will:
• Expand access to policy education in rural and underserved communities.
• Increase training and support for community-led and grassroots organizations.
• Grow our capacity to proactively monitor, draft, and support critical legislation.
• Strengthen coalitions that defend the nonprofit sector’s rights and resources.
• Fund our annual Day of Advocacy, reaching sector leaders at the state Capitol.
Support That Shapes the Future
Your sponsorship or philanthropic support isn’t just a contribution— it’s a strategic investment in an infrastructure that ensures Arizona’s nonprofit ecosystem can endure, grow, and innovate.
“Vitalyst Health Foundation invests in nonprofit advocacy because it drives systemic change and ensures that public policies reflect the needs and values of the people they impact most.
By supporting AZ Impact for Good’s advocacy efforts, funders and stakeholders can create lasting improvements that go far beyond direct services.”

Board Governance Training
Building Stronger Boards for a Stronger Sector
Behind every impactful nonprofit is a board that leads with clarity, confidence, and commitment. But effective governance doesn’t happen by accident: it requires knowledge, practice, and shared purpose.
Our Board Governance Training meets organizations where they are, offering customizable workshops that strengthen board performance, clarify roles, and equip members to lead with intention.
A well-informed board can transform an organization. Unfortunately, many Arizona nonprofits haven’t had access to training that’s tailored, engaging, and actionable for their board.
Not Just For Nonprofits!
AZ Impact for Good offers tailored board governance training for private foundations, funder collaboratives, and missionaligned businesses. These sessions address the unique responsibilities and structures of private entities engaged in social impact, including fiduciary oversight, grant strategy alignment, and ethical governance.
Did you know:
According to Stanford University, 56% of nonprofits report challenges with board governance
What This Program Offers
Our approach demystifies governance and creates space for boards to grow together, building shared language and strategy around:
• Roles and responsibilities.
• Board/staff dynamics.
• Strategic direction.
• Financial oversight.
• Equity and inclusion in board leadership.
Our Sessions Are:
• Interactive, expert-led workshops tailored to each board’s needs.
• In-person or virtual delivery—statewide availability.
• Complimented with tools and templates boards can use long after the session.
*Optional consulting add-ons for deeper engagement
How Funders Make This Possible
Your support unlocks access for nonprofits that need it most. It can:
• Bring governance workshops to rural and underresourced areas
• Support sector-wide improvement in board effectiveness
• Increase diversity and equity in leadership through inclusive training
• Help boards set a clearer course for impact, strategy, and accountability
When you invest in Board Governance Training, you’re investing in the leadership backbone of Arizona’s nonprofits. We can build stronger boards, together.
Leadership Transitions
Strengthening Arizona’s Nonprofit Leadership. One Transition at a Time
Across Arizona, nonprofits are stepping into a new era of leadership. Retirements. New hires. Organizational evolution. These changes, while inevitable, often leave mission-driven organizations vulnerable—unless they have the tools, guidance, and support to navigate them with confidence.
That’s Where We Come In
AZ Impact for Good’s Leadership Transitions program equips nonprofit board members with the resources, consulting, and strategic insight to turn a potentially destabilizing moment into a launching pad for growth, stability, and resilience.
Why This Work Matters
In Arizona alone:
• 48% of nonprofit leaders are planning to step down or retire in the next five years
• 73% of nonprofit organizations report being unprepared for an executive transition
• 80% of nonprofit leadership did not meet diversity or equity goals
Leadership transitions are watershed moments. Done well, they can sharpen a nonprofit’s mission, deepen community trust, and attract bold new talent. Done poorly; they can disrupt services, erode donor confidence, and cause lasting organizational damage.
What This Program Provides
For small and mid-sized nonprofits—who often lack the internal capacity for succession planning—this program is a lifeline:
• A comprehensive, easy-to-use Leadership Transitions Guide
• Step-by-step tools for planning, hiring, onboarding, and communicating change
• Guidance on aligning new leadership with evolving mission and strategy
• Equity-centered resources for inclusive search and leadership development
• Professional consulting hours to help organizations personalize their plan and navigate real-time decisions
• Referrals and access to trusted experts when additional support is needed
Your Opportunity
Supporting nonprofit leadership transitions is more than capacity-building: it’s sector sustainability. Your investment affirms Arizona’s nonprofits are led by capable, mission-aligned, and diverse leaders who can take their work further. You help:
• Seed long-term organizational sustainability
• Reduce burnout and instability during leadership change
• Professionalize succession and onboarding across the sector
• Expand leadership pathways for underrepresented voices for existing staff
Nonprofit Lifecycles
Strengthening Capacity at Every Stage of Growth
Nonprofits, like people, grow in stages. From scrappy start-ups to mature institutions, every organization experiences change. Without intentional support and direction, these challenges can stall progress, exhaust leadership, and compromise mission outcomes.
AZ Impact for Good’s Nonprofit Lifecycles program helps nonprofits not just survive these transitions, but grow through them.
Based on the award-winning Nonprofit Lifecycles: Stage-Based Wisdom for Nonprofit Capacity, our program equips Arizona nonprofits with the clarity, tools, and personalized support they need to understand where they are, what’s next, and how to build toward a more sustainable future.
Why This Is Critical
Most capacity-strengthening programs treat nonprofits as if they’re all the same: We don’t.
By recognizing where an organization exists on its growth curve—from Start-up to Turnaround to Mature—we meet nonprofits where they are and help them move forward strategically and sustainably.
What This Program Offers:
• A clear framework for understanding nonprofit growth stages
• Hands-on instruction from certified Lifecycle Capacity Consultants
• A DIY diagnostic tool to evaluate an organization’s current lifecycle stage and needs
• A collaborative Capacity Improvement Plan tailored to each organization
• A live case study experience to deepen learning and practical application
• Included consulting hours to personalize strategy and accelerate implementation
The Why: Our Nonprofit Lifecycles program gives nonprofits the clarity to diagnose what’s holding them back and the strategy to break through, scale up, and sustain lasting impact.
Nonprofit Finance & Loan Navigator
Financial Confidence for Every Nonprofit
In a sector where passion often outpaces financial training, Arizona nonprofit leaders and board members need more than good intentions; they need financial confidence. The Finance & Loan Navigator program empowers nonprofit executives and board leaders to understand, manage, and plan for the financial health of their organizations—without overwhelming them
Key Program Features:
• Financial Essentials: The must-know basics of nonprofit finance
• Financial Strategy: Planning for sustainability and growth
• Loan Navigator: Demystifying loans, lenders, and readiness
User-Friendly Guides
The downloadable guides help participants follow along, apply what they learn, and lead board or team discussions.
Mini-Webinars
Short (10–15 min) videos introduce each topic and guide participants through the material.
Group Discussion Prompts
Built-in prompts and activities support peer learning and help create a shared language around finances.
BONUS: Free Consultation
Participants receive a complimentary one-on-one consultation with a financial navigator to apply what they’ve learned to their organization’s real-life financial scenario.
Who is it for:
• Executive Directors & C-suite Leaders
• Board Chairs, Treasurers, and Finance Committee Members
• Organizations ready to deepen their financial literacy
This is not designed for organizations with no path to loan repayment or early-stage start-ups. This program is about readiness, not rescue.
Why It Matters
For too many nonprofits, finances are a source of fear, not strength. This program changes that.
Participants leave with:
• Clarity on how money flows through their organization
• Confidence to talk finances with funders and boards
• Capacity to plan ahead, not just make ends meet
• Readiness to access responsible lending when needed
With your support, we can reach even more leaders and organizations—especially those in under-resourced, rural, and BIPOC-led organizations—who too often don’t have access to trusted financial training.
How Your Support Can Make The Difference.
This program is free to members, but not free to run. Your investment guarantees:
• Access to high-quality financial education
• Seamless, on-demand access for busy nonprofit professionals
• One-on-one consultations tailored to each organization’s needs
• Stronger financial stewardship across Arizona’s nonprofit sector
Equity in Action
Equity in Action Makes it possible for under-resourced nonprofits to thrive by funding:
• UNITE Conference Scholarships
• Funded Memberships
• Rural Program Access
UNITE+Transform Conference Scholarships
Expanding Access to Transformative Learning and Networking
The UNITE+Transform Conference is Arizona’s premier event for nonprofit and philanthropy leaders. It offers in-depth workshops, keynote sessions with thought leaders, and unparalleled networking opportunities designed to inspire, inform, and connect organizations across the state.
AZ Impact for Good is proud to offer conference scholarships, making this vital event accessible to more nonprofits, ensuring individuals and organizations from all sectors and communities can take full advantage of the knowledge and connections that will propel their work forward.
Why It Matters
Empowering Nonprofit Leaders
Scholarships provide individuals from under-resourced organizations the opportunity to attend UNITE+Transform, gain new insights, and bring fresh ideas back to their teams and communities. This ensures that even the smallest nonprofits have access to high-quality professional development.
Scholarship Impact in Numbers
In 2023, 100 scholarships were awarded, enabling individuals from 80 unique organizations to attend the UNITE Conference. Recipients reported an increase in their capacity to apply new knowledge and strategies within their organizations, helping to drive measurable improvements in their programs.
Building a Stronger Network
Scholarship recipients not only gain access to the conference but also become part of the growing community of Arizona nonprofit leaders, fostering collaboration, shared learning, and long-term partnerships that extend well beyond the event itself. Scholarship recipients also receive an accessible pathway to membership.
Your Support Makes a Difference
By sponsoring the UNITE+transform Conference Scholarships, you directly support the future of Arizona’s nonprofit sector, guaranteeing all voices have a seat at the table. Your generosity helps us award more scholarships each year, expanding access and increasing the impact of our collective work. Together, we can create a truly inclusive learning environment that drives positive change for Arizona communities.
Funded Memberships: Advancing Equity in Arizona’s Nonprofit Sector
Together, we can eliminate barriers, expand opportunity, and build a more inclusive and impactful nonprofit sector in Arizona
While AZ Impact for Good is proud to serve nonprofits across the state, we recognize organizations outside of central Arizona, especially in rural areas and Southern Arizona, often face systemic barriers to access, resources, and representation.
Regional and Rural Programs directly address this inequity by bringing education, networking, advocacy, and support to where it’s needed most.
With your support, we can increase rural and regional nonprofit participation, amplify local voices, and ensure all Arizona communities—regardless of ZIP code—have access to tools that build capacity and drive meaningful impact.
Why Your Investment Matters
Local Access to Statewide Resources
Many rural and Southern Arizona nonprofits operate without the infrastructure, staffing, or financial capacity of their urban counterparts. Our use of virtual and hybrid programming brings AZ Impact for Good’s offerings—workshops, mixers, technical assistance, and sector insights— directly into rural towns and cities.
Impact by the Numbers:
• 42% of all Arizona’s nonprofits are located outside Maricopa County
• 37% of our nonprofit members are located outside of Maricopa county with organizations headquartered in Apache, Gila, Graham, La Paz, Mohave, and Navajo counties. (VERIFIED DATA)
• Nearly 2,000 attendees (24%) who participated in one of our 2024 events joined us from outside Maricopa County. (VERIFIED DATA)
Equity in Action
This initiative strengthens nonprofits in smaller or underserved regions, helping them reach their full potential. When these organizations have access to capacity-building tools and collaborative networks, entire communities benefit from stronger services and more sustainable leadership.
Help Bring Capacity Building to Every Corner of Arizona
Be a driving force behind more equitable access across Arizona. Your support can fund travel, venue costs, training facilitation, and outreach efforts— ensuring no organization is left behind due to geography or funding gaps.
