AZ Impact for Good was formed in 2022 through the strategic merger of two pioneering organizations: the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits and Arizona Grantmakers Forum. This merger was a bold answer to one essential question: How can we drive greater impact, together?
The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits
Formally incorporated in 2004, the Alliance emerged from a deep, statewide consultation process led by the Arizona Community Foundation, Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, Quarles & Brady Streich Lang, and St. Luke’s Health Initiative (now Vitalyst Health Foundation). The resulting feasibility study identified six key priorities—from advocacy and shared services to training and strategic partnerships—and catalyzed the creation of a hub that, over nearly two decades, equipped thousands of nonprofits to strengthen capacity and advance their missions.
Established to elevate the role of philanthropy, Arizona Grantmakers Forum convened a statewide network of over 70 grantmaking institutions and 400+ philanthropic professionals. Through more than 20 programs annually, it fostered deep collaboration, trust-based giving practices, and policy advocacy to increase the collective impact of philanthropy across Arizona. The merger enshrined our commitment to do more, reach further, and lead with unity.

Scholarships provide individuals from under-resourced organizations the opportunity to attend UNITE+Transform, gain new insights, and bring fresh ideas back to their teams and communities. This ensures that even the smallest nonprofits have access to high-quality professional development.
In 2023, 100 scholarships were awarded, enabling individuals from 80 unique organizations to attend the UNITE Conference. Recipients reported an increase in their capacity to apply new knowledge and strategies within their organizations, helping to drive measurable improvements in their programs.
Scholarship recipients not only gain access to the conference but also become part of the growing community of Arizona nonprofit leaders, fostering collaboration, shared learning, and long-term partnerships that extend well beyond the event itself. While AZ Impact for Good is proud to serve nonprofits across the state, we recognize organizations outside of central Arizona, especially in rural areas and Southern Arizona, often face systemic barriers to access, resources, and representation.
Regional and Rural Programs directly address this inequity by bringing education, networking, advocacy, and support to where it’s needed most.
With your support, we can increase rural and regional nonprofit participation, amplify local voices, and ensure all Arizona communities—regardless of ZIP code—have access to tools that build capacity and drive meaningful impact.
Many rural and Southern Arizona nonprofits operate without the infrastructure, staffing, or financial capacity of their urban counterparts. Our use of virtual and hybrid programming brings AZ Impact for Good’s offerings—workshops, mixers, technical assistance, and sector insights— directly into rural towns and cities.
