Ayrshire Housing is governed by a voluntary Board. Our Board leads and sets the strategic direction of the association. They agree our annual budgets and ensure the association is financially viable, while taking account of tenant’sviewsinrespectofrentsandservices. As well as ensuring we meet our legal, constitutional and regulatory obligations, the Board also monitor our performance and manageriskfortheassociation.Theypromote and uphold our culture and values while demonstratinggoodgovernance.

Board members are Non-Executive Directors, and the position is unpaid, although travel expenses will be reimbursed. We provide an induction when you join and encourage members to attend relevant training courses. You must be able to attend a minimum of six meetings per year. We encourage in person attendance where possible. No particular skills are required to join our Board, just enthusiasm and a willingness to commit to the role.
How many meetings will I need to attend?
You must be able to commit to attending a minimum of 6 evening meetings per year plus one Board strategy day.
Will I be paid for the position?
This is an unpaid position; however, you can claim travel expenses for attendance at meetings and conferences.
Do I need to be educated or qualified to a certain level to become a Board member?
No, you do not need to have any particular qualifications to join our Board. We ask that you only join if you are enthusiastic and willing to commit to attending meetings and other training opportunities.
Will I receive training?
Yes. All Board members receive an induction and will also be able to attend training courses relevant to their role.
How long will I be a Board member for?
Each term runs for two years. After that you will be eligible to reapply if you wish.
