Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Haywood Way for our final game of the season. It comes after a positive result at home on Tuesday against a whinging Oxhey Jets team but importantly for us saw a clean sheet and the involvement of many of our successful Dev and U18’s. I came here in early October and it’s allowed me to fully evaluate what is needed if we are to compete next season. The club is in a positive place off the pitch with many improvements to our facilities completed and I want to have a real push next season which is why I came back. It will be tough given the current conjecture regarding certain sides facing relegation due to ground grading issues but that makes it more of a challenge for me personally. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal supporters +13% this season and our players for their commitment. Change is inevitable as we look to progress and I wish you all a great summer break and look forward to seeing you during pre season.

Dynamos HISTORY Aylesbury Vale Dynamos is an amalgamation of Aylesbury FC and Bedgrove Dynamos, two local clubs with a rich history in local football. Aylesbury FC enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury. in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987. After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors, At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006. Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season, under the management of Mark Eaton, with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town. . After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side vote for a name change. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone

Dynamos HISTORY Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus. Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league. the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. In 2018/19 Scott Reynolds was appointed manager and when he resigned midway through the season it was left to Paul Bonham to take control but because of ground grading issues the Southern League made the decision to relegate the club and so after ten seasons in the Southern League. Phil Granville and Ben Gill were appointed midway through last season and will kick off the 2020/21 season again in the Spartan Premier Division. Steve Bateman was re appointed as manager in September 2021 Bedgrove Dynamos Alf Buckland, a resident of Finmere Crescent, formed Bedgrove Dynamos in 1968. It was created to fill a void in activities for boys within the Bedgrove area on the south side of Aylesbury. In 1980, Dave Bayliss became involved when he brought his Cub side to the Bedgrove Park. The teams amalgamated and Dave went on to be the chairman for 21 years, stepping down in the year 2000. Within two years and barely a full strip between them, they managed not only to win the Under 12's Aylesbury & District League (ADL), but went on to win the 13's & 14's league in consecutive years and, by which time, they now had four teams at various age groups. Over the years the club has grown and has won many tournaments and trophies, especially at county level. Many teams have toured abroad and the club has also entertained boys from Europe and America. We can boost that we are the only boys club to have a club pennant on display in Barcelona's trophy room. At the start of the season 2001/02 the club was the largest junior club in the Aylesbury area, running teams from under 8's through to under 18's. At the end of the season 2001/02 the club managed to win the coveted Berks and Bucks Cup at under 14's, the Mayor's Cup at under 12's, represented in two other cup finals, won 3 league titles, gained 6 promotions in total and all teams finished in the top 6 to the fairplay awards for their respective leagues. In the last 20 seasons across the age groups the club has won 25 divisional titles, and runners up 20 times. In 2019 two became one when the sides amalgamated with the intention of allowing the youth of the town to progress through junior football to youth and then adult football and play at the highest possible level.

Meet The MANAGEMENT Steve BATEMAN – Manager Bateman has enjoyed an illustrious non-league career, starting his playing days with Hemel Hempstead before joining Everton, where he went on to win the FA Youth Cup before later playing more than 300 games for both Chesham United and Slough Town. His managerial career started at Chesham but he also managed Berkhamsted Town, guiding them to a memorable FA Vase final at Villa Park, and local rivals Hemel Hempstead who he led to promotion to the Southern Premier League. Bateman was appointed Aylesbury boss in 2013, replacing Craig Faulconbridge, and spearhead a strong promotion push in 2014/15 finishing third to Royston and Kettering, Aylesbury's highest ever league position, before losing out in the play-offs to Bedworth. Bates then bought the biggest trophy back to Haywood Way when in 2016 Aylesbury defeated Chesham United 1-0 in the Berks and Bucks Cup Final at Windsor FC before departing the club at the end of that season. He then returned to Berkhamsted, this time gaining promotion from the Spartan South Midlands League in April 2018 before two succesful seasons in the the Southern League, helping them to a 6th place finish in his first season before ending season 19/20 in top place prior to the null and void decision due to Covid. Steve's then teamed up with Lee Bircham and Hemel Hempstead Town in the National League South before ending their tenure earlier this month. Davis HAULE – Assistant Manager Davis is a Haywood Way legend and returns to Steve Bateman's management team as Assistant Manager. He will also be an important player in the middle of the park. Davis made nearly 200 appearances for Aylesbury between 2012 and 2019 and managed the side for a season and a half between 2016 and 2018. He brings with him an immense amount of knowledge of the non league game and will be an invaluable source of experience to the young players but also to the management team. John LAWFORD – Assistant Manager John was a prolific goalscorer throughout his career, which started at Luton Town, and he subsequently played for a number of clubs, including Bishop's Stortford, Hayes, Aylesbury United, Wokingham Town, Berkhamsted Town, Chesham United, Harrow Borough, Boreham Wood, and Waltham Forest.

Last Time Out U18s Thu 7th April 2022 AVDFC U18s 0 Kings Langley U18s 2 Hosting League Champions Kings Langley in our final game of the season our incentive was to be the only side to complete the double on them. Our opponents settled quicker than we did and we struggled a bit to get to grip with things. This was not helped by a groin strain in the warm up to Captain, and midfield "dynamo", Jude GuestBrainch who despite that wanted to start. He was eventually forced off after 40 mins when a clash resulted in a possible concussion. On 15 to 20 mins we began to get in the game and created a couple of reasonable chances. Kings Langley despite having a fair share of possession only created one real goal scoring opportunity and at half time both sides were probably not unhappy with the scoreline. We started the second period putting Kings Langley on the back foot but within 5 mins we fell behind when a bad bounce betrayed keeper Marc Weltenius which resulted in a free run on goal. The game continued with generally both defences on top . We forced a number of corners and set pieces but the nearest we came was a finish was by Sadibo Camara seconds after a whistle for a foul. Just when it looked like we might get something from the contest Kings Langley turned the task into a mountain when a good pass resulted in a tidy finish. As ever the lads never stopped trying and working hard but sadly came up short. As Manager I have to say I'm probably disappointed with how our season fell away but have absolutely no issues with the commitment, attitude and the improvement in the vast majority of the players both in training and in game I firmly believe that the 2nd year lads will stay round our Club and step into Senior football whilst the many talented 1st years will learn from their experience this season to form the core of the 2022/23 team.

Development Side Update Sat 16th April 2022 AVDFC Dev 1 Chalfont St Peter 4 The Development team suffered a defeat at the hands of Chalfont, again, as they still look to win the league at the first attempt. The teams went in level at half time, 1-1, Chalfont scoring first and a Tom Shaw corner finding its way to Harvey Matthews who smashed it home to level the match. After half time, Chalfont applied more pressure and scored 3 more goals to complete a 4-1 win to dent the Development teams chances of winning the league.

Harpenden Town HISTORY Harpenden Town Football Club was formed as Harpenden F.C. 1891 playing in both the Mid-Herts and Herts County Leagues, winning the Mid-Herts on numerous occasions. Town was added in the 1908. Town climbed into the South Midlands League in 1957 winning the Premier Division title in 1962 and 1965 and in 1968 adding both the Herts Charity Shield & the South Midlands League Shield to their trophy haul. Season 1990-91 saw the last significant investment in the club with the erection of the Centenary Stand, and, the installation of floodlights. The Club obtained entry to the FA Cup for the first time in 1998 and is a regular contender in the FA Vase. After a turbulent period resulting in relegation from the Premier Division in 2000 and 2005. At the start of the 2006/07 season a new committee was in place their first move was to gain the Football Associations Charter Standard Accreditation, which ensured the correct structures were in place. On the field the club also required stabilising and it was felt that more local community approach was needed so links with Harpenden Colts were established to bring through local young players ensuring a pathway from under sevens to adult football. Success soon followed and after only one year Harpenden Town was named Herts FA Charter Standard club of the year thanks to their community work, which included hosting an anti racism event, an adult seven aside competition, free coaching offered to schools/junior teams and the development of women’s football through the Herts youth games.. The past two seasons has seen Harpenden make strides to secure its long term future however with possibly the worst facilities in the league due to lack of investment and vandalism over the past 20 years we face a massive task to completely turn around the clubs fortunes. We now have a new football management set up with local loyalties and most new players come from the local area. Off the field there is a new committee of local football fans who have not been involved with the club before supported by the old committee and others who still assist with the running of the club. In 2015 having successfully obtained £100k of funding the club’s facilities have been refurbished which has had a positive impact on the club and its profile. 2018-19 was the last for the very successful manager Danny Plumb that included promotion back to the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division and a memorable Divisional Cup triumph inspired by local PE teacher David Keenleyside. The team is presently managed by Mickey Nathan assisted by Steve O’Reilly and Liam Dwyer.
