Proposed site location: Harrington square, Cape Town CBD
The Trade shed is an urban infill which incorporates medium-low scale retail spaces –Make and trade. These spaces allow a place for thinking, a place for making & a place for exhibiting/trading the product being sold. The type of craft skills/products appropriate for medium-low scale manufacturing & selling was identified and explored. The aim of project is to boost local economy and to support a transitioning socio-economic culture. The design intention was to consider the following aspects: context of the site, and historical, environmental & socio-economic conditions.
