ANIL RAINA anil.raina@thevigil.com THE Jammu and Kashmir Police were forced to give in to the demands of terrorists and free their arrested relatives after the terrorists retaliated by abducting some of the security men’s kin. Late on Thursday, 11 people from six police families were kidnapped from their homes after the police, in a late-night crackdown
on Wednesday, had detained six people including the father of Hizbul Mujahideen operational commander Riyaz Naikoo from Awantipora. The terrorists then, in installments throughout the day, released all the abductees unharmed. Sources say this is the first such instance in almost 30 years of militancy in Kashmir when families of policemen have been targeted like this. >> Pg 3
