although, I can assure you that I have crossed “chef” out on the possible professions list for the future! With my extra bit of summer, I have already gone to one Red Sox game with HARRY LYONS and spent some time with STEVEN HONEYMAN on the Connecticut shore, and plan to visit some more Avonians at their current institutions. At Trinity I have discovered that I have an incredible passion for sports journalism (shocker to hear coming from a man of Avon). I have been writing for the sports section of the Trinity Tripod, our student-run weekly newspaper, since my freshman year. In fact, this past semester I earned the Murray Scholarship, which is a grant that goes to five students in the United States who have written the best essays on a given sports journalism topic. I wrote mine about our famed squash coach, Paul Assaiante. This award has helped reassure me that this form of writing is truly a passion of mine.” GERARD HAMPTON will be a senior at Johns Hopkins majoring in public health. I am proud to say that only 19 other students from the United States were accepted into this program. I will be studying English literature and international politics while I live in Oxfordshire. I leave on October 1st. During the summer I worked on Martha’s Vineyard at the Chilmark Tavern, an upscale ‘new American’ restaurant. I cooked on the line, working 13-hour days, but it was an amazing experience working next to an incredible chef—
