Inside, flexible performance spaces accommodate a wide range of artistic expressions, from traditional music and dance to contemporary theater This center also serves as a vibrant community hub, encouraging cultural education, artistic collaboration, and local engagement, embodying the idea that architecture can bridge the gap between cultural preservation and environmentalsustainability

Building Mass Transformation

After the space area is divided per area, the building mass will be formed according to the area and zone that has been determined by the results of the previous site analysis. The formationofseparatebuildingmassesisdesignedtomeetthecriteriaofthe imageofspace, whichadaptsdierentmassesinthelargeRumahGadang.

Local Architecture Adaptation

Some parts of the building adapt from local architecture, this is also in accordance with the criteria for implementing the Eco-cultural Architecture approach, namely in the criteria of buildingimageandidealizedconceptofplace.

On the roof, the building adapts the bagonjong roof shape of the Minangkabau traditional house, whichisshapedlikeabualohorn, withapointedtipatthetopoftheroof.Thebuilding adapts this shape as one form of representation of the unique local Minangkabau architectureintheshapeofitsroof.

Architecture Approach Implementation

The outer facade of the building design also adapts the form of the Minangkabau songket motif which will be chosen to be used as an opening in the building which will also provide a semi-outdoor atmosphere in several parts of the room in the building design. The outer facade of the building has a slope that is designed to follow the sloping shape produced on the roof of the building so that it gives a harmonious impression to the two dierent parts of the building, and uses local materials in the form of wood, and both of these are eorts to me etthecriteriaoftechnologiesandimageofspaceintheapproachapplied.

Design Transformation

The existing buildings in the area were originally two buildings separated by a wall. In order to fit the design of the area, adjustments were made to the space required for the design with the space in the existing building. The adjustments were in the form of restructuring the boundaries of the space such as walls according to the division of space required for the design. Redesign was only carried out in the interior of the building, with the outer facade of the building still maintained as before. Then, additional road paving was also carried out to connect the building with other buildings according to the flow and function and the addition ofvegetationandpublicopenareastosupportoutdooractivitiesinthedesign.

Highway Hotel

3-star Strategic Tourism Hotel

Comprehensive Architecture Studio | 2023

location

Kulon Progo, DI Yogyakarta software used

AutoCAD, SketchUP, Adobe Photoshop, Enscape

This hotel has the types of Tourism Hotel, following the location of the hotel which is close to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), so it is hoped that the hotel can be one of a good resting place for tourists that visiting Yogyakarta. This hotel has the concept of following the highway on the site, by taking the shape of the site mass that resembles the shape of a reversed highway With a mass shape that is designed to give the impression of embracing public areas, such as restaurants and swimming pool at the hotelandprovideagreatviewandcomforttohotelusers.

The site is on the main road to Yogyakarta International Airport, precisely in Kuwonan, Triharjo, Wates, Kab. Kulon Progo, DI Yogyakarta. The location of the site is close to Yogyakarta International Airport. According to the site analysis results, the site is located between 2 main roads which makes the site a strategic place to build an accommodation center. However, because of this, problems arise at the site, namely noise and air pollution. The site is also locatednearthebeachtothesouthofYogyakarta.

In the initial stage of mass composition, the design takes a square shape on the site which is adjusted to the boundaries of the site, then the mass is divided into three zones according to thespacezoningrequiredinthebuilding, namelyServiceZone,PublicZoneandPrivateZone. The mass is pulled up to suit whatever needs are in each zone. In the Private Zone section, the mass is drawn to follow the shape of the reversed highway in order to optimize the view and response from analysis at the site. The outdoor part of the Public Zone is located far from the mainroadwhichisdesignedtooptimizecomfortinthePublicZone.

Axonometrical Structure

In this building, the structure applied to the design is main columns on the building that is about 8 meters apart, with the core located at the front of the building. The most column structures are located in the basement of the building, some parts of which continue to the lobby floor and the 1st floor, and then continue according to the typical hotel floor shape. The foundation of the hotel building uses a footplate foundation with 4 parts that continue into the ground which will supporttheloadofthehigh-risebuilding.
