What is Departure Control System?
Departure Control System (DCS), which is an administrative tool used by airlines, is designed to automate processing an airline’s airport management operation.
DCS provides different functions and automated key processes during pre-flight preparation. A DCS needs hardware such as scanners and printers to fully function which makes hardware communication a key factor. These functions can be separated or integrated between various DCS usages. As can be seen, DCSs are evolving, as a way of cost reduction and safety growth, into fully automated systems for flight preparation.
There are lots of international and well-designed DCSs which are appropriate for large airports; however, these can be expensive and unaffordable for smaller ground handlers and airlines. The Departure Control System will comprise of the following operations:
Passenger check-in
weight and balance
Baggage check-in
Operational Flight Plan
Automated boarding pass printing
Generation of Flight Manifest
